In my next game i was thinking of taking 100 zombies rather than having big blocks of zombies as it would be better to run 5 units of 20 zombies, so when IoN is cast with a level 4 wizard next to a Corpse Cart with unholy lodestone you should get a crazy amount of zombies every time its cast. Also i would like in a 2400 point army to run 10 Wraiths, 2 in each unit of zombies and in the corners of the unit so you have less attacks coming back at you. I will try this but is it good tactics or not?

Do a test with this setup and see how many zombies you get from IoN :perv:

Yes with the new IoN this seems like an amazing tactic except you have to keep in mind that to be able to fit all those zombies in your radius of cast you're gonna have to cast a preety big spell and dispel scrolls will be your bane. Also, if the enemy manages to cast a big spell off on your army (e.g. purple sun), well i guess it would be much easier to hit a bunch of seperate units than one long unit. I guess its a matter of balancing it out.

Definitely worth trying though.

With the Mortis engine buffing you, you running the zombies 5 wide you should be able to reach all units with reliable casting 18" bubble on 3 dice. You'd need multiple corpse carts. But let's say everything works out, you should get roughly 12 zombies per unit. A lot of zombies but They would still be little more than steadfast cancelers. Because asf doesn't do anything for them. it would be an interesting points denial tactic. The regen from the Mortis engine would help a lot.

I would try this with kemmler and mannfred to try an get multiple curse of years off to hit the units once stuck in. Could even have a lore of death wizard decreasing stats in a bubble. I'd say you definitely need to go magic heavy for this to work well

i havent played WH since the early nineties but im just getting back into the hobby and im dying to try out a tactic of multiple 'waves' of zombies, in lines 20 long ranks 1 deep , and just have wave after wave like 5 or 6 lines infront of my army as a shield or up both flanks to protect them. i dont really know what that will do but i look forward to finding out against some different armys

I like the cut of your jib zombilly! This sounds pretty fun. Though I might start them out a bit bigger as you are most likely vanhellsing up the field at times. Maybe 30? Sounds like fun. Let us know what happens.

I wounld like 10 wraiths that will take up all of my hero point in a 2400 list and i know some people will think thats a bad idea but i`m going to try it. I would like a bit of help on the lords, i need magic lords should i go for one strong, 2 ok lords or maybe 3 master necromancers level 4 lord with no items?

In general you will need as much magic as you can get out of those two lords. If you can do a lv 2 vamp and a lv 4 nec. Though you don't really need a combat monster vamp he is good to have. You may need some dispel scrolls. Maybe just one in case something bad is going down.

posted a possible list https://www.vampirecounts.net/Thread-zombilly-s-zombie-nation-list

its magic heavy but the lord can still fight. Had to drop the wraiths to make sure There was enough wizards to keep every unit up.

In 8th Edition only one Dispel Scroll is allowed for every army (that uses only the normal one).

So any things are different lol. I just got my rule book in today and have read through most of it already. So I learned a lot of things new about 8th.
