I'm looking to convert the leaning Vampire Lady from the Coven Throne model (The one with the single braid) and mount it onto the zombie dragon. Initially I had envisioned equipping her with Great Sword and the Night Shroud amongst other things. If I opt for this route I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a decent great weapon to convert onto the model? I prefer great swords that arn't ridiculously thick.

Other Suggestions for things like Sword and board are welcome too as I haven't exactly settled on how I want this modelled yet.

While I have you guys here, how do you think it would look in reguards to the zombie dragon to paint anything that isn't bone as ethereal? Is it possible to translate that idea to the model?

Thanks In Advance

Hi,

I don't know if it is quite the scale you are looking for, but the runefang blade from the Empire plastic general set is pretty much what I would consider great weapon size - I can't imagine anyone being able to wield the thing single handed! It's a simple, straight up blade that you can add some details to at the hilt to obscure the rune, and make it look suitably dark and tainted?

I like the idea of a semi-ethereal zombie dragon - I am not sure if this is what you had in mind, but I would probably try a reverse light effect - a strong colour wash into the depths of the bones, and drybrush up to lighter on the bone as it gets closer to the "skin" of the beast, so it's as if it is glowing from within, almost burning from the inside out. The alternative is I think what you were planning, painting the bone normally and then painting the fleshy bits with a ethereal hue? I think that could work, you would probably need to blend the colours out to the edges of the flesh areas to get a sort of whispy look. I am sure you can do it and it will look great.

I hope you can let us know how that turns out :) That sounds like a fun conversion

Thanks alot, that sword looks great (assuming i have the right one) I could see her casually resting it across her lap astride a skeletal dragon held together by ethereal tendons, muscles and magic. I'm going to need to eyeball the bitz a little closer, i'm not sure if i will need to cut and file away the gloved hand on the sword, or if i need to try and attach it to her arm.

And that one was sitting right under my nose >.> They both look good, so I'll just play around with it and see which one I like the best. I have a question for you guys though, the set up of a vampire w/ great weapon + nightshroud is pretty good from a game stand point?

Hmm, I personally like ASF because then you get to reroll failed hits most of the time. I would suggest either an ogre blade or a lance.

Night shroud isn't bad at all! ASL to the opponent is okay, but the real bonus comes from the whole reduce strength and what not so most times they'll need like ... 4's or 5's normally. It's awesome! Just make sure that you still give her like heavy armor and sheild because then she'll have a 2+ armor save. Also, Please give her a ward save!!

Yeah the idea was

Vamp Lord
Heavy Armor
Great Weapon
Zombie Dragon

Red Fury
Dread Knight
Beguile
Aura of Dark Majesty
Night Shroud
Talisman of Preservation
The other trickster's Shard

Initiative 7 should keep me swinging first, WS 9 and Beguile should be a solid defense from being hit while a 3+ save isn't amazing but could provide some protection considering they lose strength bonuses. And if all else fails I have a 4+ Ward Save. Offensively i have WS9, S7 with Red Fury and The Other Trickster's Shard to get wounds to stick.

If this set up is fairly viable then I think a solid paint job on the beautifully sculpted dress (Night Shroud) with a great weapon should cover the WizyWig of it. I'm just worried that if such a set up isn't good then I might have to change the asthetics to something like a hand weapon/shield combo

How will you be going first still? You still have ASL because of the GW and Initiative won't matter because of ASL. If you take Quickblood then you'll be fine, although you'll still be losing out on the ASF+high Init rerolls.

Does nightshroud granting any based enemies Always Strikes Last not put us both as striking last thus in initiative order? I'm sorry my experience with this version of WHFB is still extremely low.

Thanks for clearing that up. So do you feel this set up would be better served by losing the GW and going hw shield or cutting beguile and dark majesty and going for quick blooded? I assume quickblooded would just cancel out the ASL of the great weapon and thus I wouldn't get to reroll to hit rolls?

Thanks again for all of this info, modelling this peice is going to be expensive and I don't want to model it up one way wishing I had done it another way.
