Fantasy or Sci-fi?

Ok so i've been racking my brains lately over whether or not to collect a 40k army.
I'm a keen WFB enthusiast with a vast collection of VC and Greenskins which alot of is not painted
Then I bought 1500pts worth of Dark Angels, always been a Dark Angels fan, and with the release of the Horus Heresy books inspiration bloomed.

However I keep telling myself that i'll sell the 40k stuff on ebay and stick to my beloved vamps and greenies, but whenever i list them I end up taking them off again 5 minutes later:swear:

So I was just wondering what you guys prefer?

Like you I can't decide I love both whether it is models, books or TV / films. So just give in and enjoy them both

I'm partial to 40k. Games tend to be a little faster and I'm just a bigger fan of Sci-Fi. I'm selling off my VC to invest in more IG models.

I ahem confess to like the playing aspect of 40k better.

With loving the modeling and painting aspect of fantasy better.

As for collecting well me and my wife have one of each army. 90 percent of all that is unpainted but ya,

I seem to be the only one so far who likes WHFB more. However, as you already have 2 Fantasy armies I'd hang on to the Dark Angels. If you have armies for both it's a lot easier to find opponents. (At least, it is round where I live).

I'd have to agree with you on this one. As far as why 40k is my main favorite is there's nothing I love more than an Apocalypse game!!!! Though there are times where I get burnt out on 40k and Fantasy is an amazing change of pace.

Unfortunately it seems whenever I am set on playing Fantasy the folks I game with are set on 40k. And vice-versa. :slapface:

Personally I would never give up my 40k orks or my blood angels for anything but I do like my Vamps allot, its allot of fun. but I like the story of 40k more than I do fantasy.
And by any chance you wouldn't be the same Fritz as the way of sam hann you tube fritz would you?

Your not alone wolfie , I prefer fantasy too . Not to say that I don't enjoy the odd game of 40k , I just think fantasy has more a sense of spectacle about it some how . I suppose i just prefer swords and magic over guns and tanks (I only have 4 in my large 40k army and 3 of them are rhinos) .

I've always been a sci fi nerd. The fact that I can give you the quark composition of a positron, tau neutrino, pretty much any elementary particle... Well it kinda shows how much of a nerd I am. Or why I have no mates :tongue:

I like Fantasy when I'm winning Recently VCs have just been getting frustrating, so I'm taking a nice break so I don't paint them rubbish

Fantasy, thats where I lean to and by lean I mean drastically. My reason for this is I'm a Necron player, there are no super cool novels let alone a whole series like the Horus Heresy, there are no awesome named characters. VC on the other hand has books, tons of movies with undead and vampires for continued inspiration, they got characters. To me it boils down to my own personal preference and my dislike of just about all the 40k armies, IG are useless meat shields for a corpse god, SM=300 in homosexuality, Eldar make HE look like WE, Orks are plant people which is stupid, etc. Then there is the absolute fact that fantasy came first and just about every 40k army is a bite off of j random general fantasy. I hate Space Marines, no matter when and where I go to play there is always some SM player with their golden emperor and all his bs. To me SM are the clear favorite not just by the players, but by GW itself, makes me just not want to play which is why I rarely play my Necrons anymore. WHFB has a better table top RPG which I'm big into D&D and all that crazy stuff, the 40k one is so suffocating its ridiculous which is another reason why I prefer fantasy in that it feels a bit more open to things. The only reason why me and majority of my friends even started a 40k army was because of Dawn of War and when picking an army Necrons were the only one I liked with a small glance at CSM and Khorne. As for fantasy, I had trouble picking an army, I always wanted to do a vampire army, but skaven are quality and DE are pretty sweet, TK caught my attention too. I'm ranting...I'll shut up now.

You've just totally swung it for me, fantasy it is!!!

Plus I'm planning on starting a zombie pirate army and there's no way i'll have enough shoe boxes for all those minis:lol:
