Favorite magic spell, any book, any edition, what does it do? Why do you love it?

Titillating Delusions, Lore of Slannesh from early 7th ed Beasts/Warriors/Daemons of Chaos.

Cast on enemy unit, pick a spot on the battlefield within that unit's line of sight. The unit must move towards that point with all possible haste.

You can make your enemy move where you want them to go!

That was a good spell! Nice start. That one near the top for me.

Curse of Years has always been a spell I've enjoyed using. It's got allot of subtly to it, still does.

{sniffle} Delusions was my favorite as well. Oh how I miss my Cult of Slaanesh army. {cries uncontrollably}

I miss the cult of Slaanesh too! I played both them and a Slaanesh daemon army back in 6th-7th. Rumor is it's coming back with this next book.

Aye, I heard about that rumor. It will be interesting to see how they redo the anointed as well as what chaos units will be available.
On topic, Dominion from the Dark Elf lore gets an honorable mention

Curse of years I like a lot, but I like raise dead. For the sheer joy of ZOMBIES!!

Never used delusions myself but it was a pain playing against.

HAND OF DUST!!!!! Before they took it away. Then sorta gave it back in UL. Roll dice. Character dies. Reach out and touch that DP. Reach out and touch em good.

Th old Van Hel's,which allowed you to move in the magic phase the same as the present version... but counted as a charge if you hit an enemy unit AND being a necromancy spell all your vampires could try casting it multiple times per phase, perfect for Blood knights haha happy days

Only familiar with 8th Ed.

Pretty tricky between the vamp spells... Vanhels, Hellish Vigour or Invocation. The look on your opponents face when you bring your Black Knights back to full strength after 4 turns of combat when they thought they'd have your Blender Lord out of the way in the next combat... priceless.

As I put together my Lizards I have cause to explore other Lores... Throne of Vines in Life just seems mad, boosting almost all the other spells in the lore. The prospect of a block of Toughness 8 Saurus is positively delicious... Then there's Birona's Timewarp, +1 attack and ASF...

6th Edition Invocation of Nehek for the sheer versatility. It was our current version of Invocation, PLUS our current version of Raise Dead, all Rolled into one Spell, that your necromancer could always take. I was sad when they broke it up into two diffrent spells.

I was also really fond of the Old Tomb Kings Scrolls system, back when they were nothing but a list in Citadel Journal.

Curse of years in 8th edition.

Not really for the damage but for the fact that it is RIP and forces my opponent to use at least 3 of his or her PD in their magic face should they ignore it in my magic phase.

Foot of Gork. Nothing better than getting my entire unit of 30 corsairs and a Kharibdyss stomped to death by a giant Orc.

But seriously, mine is probably Soulblight. -1 S -1 T with decent range is never not good, and coupled with augments like Wyssan's or more hexes like Miasma makes almost any unit smash their opponent unit in the subsequent CC phase.

Going to stick to 8th ed, because the past edition's spells are a little fuzzy in my memory :). My favorite spell has to be Ice Shard blizzard. Really low casting cost, huge versitility. In a year and a half of playing Brets in 8th ed it won me so many games. It also helps that I think heavens is often overlooked, so people are prepared for the low casting cost of the various spells.

Cheesiest spell every: Comet of Casandora in 6th. 2d6 S5 hits? sick. Everyone who had access to heavens took that and just prayed they will generate it. My High elf opponents always "chose" it.

Why is your wizard at the edge of the map in that forest?

OH, he will be casting comet anywhere on the table top all game :)

I loved the old version of Skaven Warp Lightning. 2D6 S5 hits from at least 2 cheap characters- and it was the spell they got automatically!

Winds of Undeath from the 7th edition Vampire Counts army book.

Hits every enemy unit on the map, causing small but not insignificant damage to low wound units like cannons, summoning you some sweet sweet spirit hosts in the process? Yayah.
