fell bats, spirit hosts and bat swarms - no pics in codex??

anyone else out there think its strange that there are no pictures of the "new" finecast bat swarms, spirit host and fell bat models?

for this reason i assume they must be the next models to be replaced!

there are pics of zombies, so i dont feel there are any remodels on the horizon there.

any flaws with my logic here? thoughts?

I dunno, I kinda like the zombies model :ghost:

I think they are pretty fine the way they are, the old skeletons were leagues worse than the zombies ever will be!

It's also somewhat strange that there's only a single photograph of the Blood Knights (with no particular emphasis or close-up shot on them). Maybe they're getting new models? Possibly, but it seems more likely that even GW can't afford the price of their kit.

to be honest i like the zombie models too. sure they have big heads and even bigger hands.. but its got a kind of dopey charm that i like.

My only real complaint with the current zombie models are the arms. I'd like to see more empty-handed reaching/throttling poses. Face-wise and such, though, they make me think of Return of the Living Dead, so I too throw my hat in for the current zombies.

I like the current zombie models. theyre dopey, but IMO there isnt a lot you can do with zombies. they are driven forward by the vamps, so you couldnt really translate a Romero zombie into empire peasant clothing. it just wouldnt look right.

As far as fell bats, bat swarms, and spirit hosts I think theyre just embarrassed they let those god awful models slide through this update. They got the black knights, that was great, but next to that the fell bats needed a better model. I would buy a unit or two of them if only I could stand putting them next to the rest of my army.... converting seems to be the way to go

I do think it could be one of the two. Its possible (though unlikely) we may get a second wave. More likely that GW know those models are so damn poor they would just look silly in the book.

I noticed the same thing and was hoping it is because they are getting redone like most other models have. However as for zombies I doubt they will get rid of that plastic kit. I know a lot of people who buy boxes of bretonians or empire soldiers to mix bits to make unique looking zombies. I am one of those people.

The only stuff that gets redone is stuff that doesnt already have a multipart plastic kit or a finceast. Before dire wolves/zombies could get redone the following kits would get redone:

Rumor is that witch elves are going plastic with the new dark elf book late this year or early next. Rumor source says they didn't much care for the look of them. If you play dark elves and don't have a witch elf unit yet and like the current models, I'd strongly consider picking some up sooner, rather then later.

I'm gonna chime in for liking the current zombie models. Sure, they're cartoonishly disproportionate (like pretty much all models from their era) but they have a ton of character. I don't like the Mantic zombies because they're so bland.

I really hope we get new fell bats down the line, I've always hated how they look. Spirit hosts are easy to just convert, everyone has bits that can make a cool looking ghost.

I was talking to a few of the staff at the gameshop and they havn't heard anything and said it was unlikely they will be doing a second wave.

On the US GW site, there's a listing for Finecast fell bats. Three for $49.50. Seems like the old sculpts will be around for a while...

The oldschool warhammer zombies are okay... unless you want a serious looking army rather than a comical or cheesy looking army. Perhaps they should do with them what they did with skeletons- make a new kit in the newer style, but keep the old kit as being available aswell.
