So has anyone else got it?

Picked up my copy yesterday, and so far:

Fighting is pretty much the same as last time, with an interesting twist that you can "tame" some of the monsters you fight, which you can then use as a team to fight alongside you. They also have special limit break (Feral) attacks which are good.

Some interesting new features, like when monsters appear you have a small time limit to try and strike them before the battle starts. If you manage it you start with a pre-emptive strike.

I'm loving the music, against one boss it was like heavy rock almost metal which really set the tone.

The graphics are stunning as would be expected with a FF game.

So yeah, so far so good.

Finally I must admit.....she may just be a bunch of polygons but I have such an unhealthy attraction to Lightning...

OOH, I'll have to pick it up once my finances are a bit more in order. Loved the original 13 and I just hope that the new one is just as good. :)
Incidentally I have both versions of the in-game Lightning models as a 3DSMAx file on my laptop. :D

Cheers, Wolfie

Really? Any chance they could be sent to me? xD

From what I have read this is going to be better than the original. Similar battle mechanics but unlike the previous game you can explore much more, like early FF titles.

Had it on pre-order, came friday & haven't been able to put it down since.

I have to admit that whilst I'm very grateful for the additional freedom, particularly in comparison to XIII, I am finding the little details of the story a bit tricky to follow on times.

But then who cares - Chocobo Racing's Back! WAHOO! xD

Almost every Final Fantasy game has unbelievably-super-fantastic-awesome music!!! Any idea who wrote the music for this one? I don't think its Nobuo Uematsu though, that man is a genius!!! all the music tracks he has composed are so beautiful!

Also, Lighting is one of the prettiest female video games characters. Only negative, she wears too many clothes/armor

nobuo Uematsu has indeed left Square, I read the article on it a while back. He was a God among Men when he had liberty to make his music. I shall miss his contributions greatly.

I want this game now, but I have to struggle through such...linear and boring gameplay of 13.... o_o

The gameplay of this one is much better Oni - it is nothing like 13, you can go off and visit areas outside of the main storyline pretty quickly if you want. There are plenty of side quests and so on.

It is proving to be much better than 13 a the moment....even if the main character does need a slap now and then xd

My verdict is, only buy if you're a BIG fan of the series. If you couldn't get into the previous games, you will not find anything new for you here. You're getting the same thing all over again with some improvments. This was the final nail in the coffin for me. Felt more like they're just counting on the name of the franchise, like so many other games with too many sequels(Resident Evil, Metal gear, etc). As with these games, the story has gotten to the point where it is quite weak(it would seem most reviwers home in on this point as well).

That said, if you like a traditional J-RPGs, you're probably going to like this. Does exactly what it says on the tin, so to speak. It is certainly better than the last couple of FF games.
