credit to Jonny for highlighting its usefull ness to me:

i was thinking of using the forbidden rod on my Vamp lord caster.

i assume that the wounds taken can be regen saved or ward saved?
i mean RAW is yes, which makes this item awesome for us when combined with the extra wound bloodline for safety.

cheers for any clarification

Yes. You can use reg or a ward save. No armor save means just that. No "armor" save......

Yes you get your ++saves but when thinking about taking, think about this: You can't take red fury with it, and red fury is what makes vamps wreck face.

A sacrificial necro is probably where the forbidden rod should stay. I've seen people take it on their master necro stating 'it's worth the risk' but IMO it's more worth spending an extra 65 points to make sure you don't have to take the risk

I think the sac necro is what makes the rod good and here is why.
1. It is only 100 points which IMO is a steal.
2. If it only does one wound to him then he can heal himself back up and hide he rest of the game
3. It gives you a extra channel and ION
4. The rod is expensive for a lord to carry around
5. If your lord dies to the rod all those dice are for nothing
6. It seems fluffy for a little serf to kill himself for his master.
