Well I'm a Dwarf player from a long time back and my first thought is, slayer with helmets?!? what the damn hell?

They're OK models I guess. Surprisingly bad paintjobs from GW on their site. I mean better than I can do, but they can usually do better.

Scale wise from other spoilers I've seen I think they're the size of small ogres and the height of a human. To be honest, I prefer the old slayers. Maybe less epic but just so full of character.

I don't like the direction Age of Sigmar is taking, in my opinion it's really too... "Epic". It's all about surhuman overpowered divine beings with these new releases. Of course Warhammer Battle have always been "high fantasy" but there was still a human (or elf or dwarf or whatever) side that we could relate with. They had their flaws and weaknesses and weren't "perfect" in every way, I don't know if you catch my meaning.

They really look like they lack any personnality, especially the Sigmarines, of whom they say that they even "lost almost all memory of their previous lives". It looks really lazy and cheesy to me :/

Well they have the new monster now

I definately agree with you @Mornund . I mean where to do the people live in this world or is it just epic fighters in a high fantasy rompastomp. To quote one of my favorite movies, "If everyone is super, then no one is."

Oh also, AU $180 for this thing. Crazy.

Not happy with the size increase. I like to be able to use my minis for both AoS and KoW which is really hard to do when there's a big size difference.
Glad there's something besides infantry for dwarfs finally though. They badly need regular sized cavalry too.

I like the fact that they're not Steamhead Do-or-die slayers, that they're a different subsect of dwarfs shows in the sculpts. The fluff from what I 've read so far also seems quite thought out. Just a pity that they hadn't released chaos dwarfs.....

Aye, this new slayers are strange - but they are new, not old ones - old ones are gone forever. New are quite odd but they do have a character - not my style really (I prefer guys in more or less full armor) but still.

The old slayers aren't gone, they're still a part of the steam head during list as always.... Now you can field Fyre slayers with the slayer king, backed up with an army of normal slayers

Reading the Fyreslayers tome now. It is really interesting, they live in Shyish in the Shadowlands, where the Valley of Forgetfullness turns to mist and nothingness, and their lodge is called Ulrung. They participate in the war between the living and dead and grow richer with the wealth of the departed.

Yea, my brother is a dwarf only player. We are doing a scenario from the tome this weekend hopefully (barring he gets feeling better) based on the Fyreslayers going after the vampire queen cassandra...

luckily the scenario asks for the Undead to be quite a large force broken into 4 armies. We may have to tweak the books rules to allow some reinforcements for him b/c I just don't see him surviving...

If you read (the fluff story is kind of neat) the UD is supposed to outnumber him. Since it will be my first game he wants me to field everything I have to give him a "challenge"... lol he doesn't know how much I have or how obsessed I have become in the few short weeks.

as the UD you break your army basically into 4 armies. (deployment rules are dif in the battleplan). Well each of my 4 armies are more than equal to his whole army in SDK (www.scrollbuilder.com). So I think it would be way to unfair (I also plan on not adding summoning, though in phase 2 of the battleplan there is auto summoning)

Ah, so. Aye, that would be not that fair indeed. But maybe it is not that bad as well, he will see how big your collection is and receive his challenge. In scenarios it is not always clear how to balance your forces exactly.

You have 4 deployments as the UD. You only deploy as he reaches the next level if I remember correctly (at work not looking at tome). So not really a "reinforcement" type. Granted I don't plan on having a Mortarch at level 1 or probably even a real hero b/c the Command Ability allows the General to see through any eyes and use things.

Aye, the plan looks interesting but quite complicated indeed, so it falls to you to balance it. Well, I certainly agree that the best variant then is to deploy first core troops like zombies and skeletons or ghouls, then something heavier like grave guard or black knights and only then heroes with the most powerful creatures. It will allow you to test the strength of your foe and allow him to advance without much losses, and he still will put up a fight.

Yea I am thinking SWs and Archers in round 1, maybe some black knights. Archers receive penalty in the scenario b/c of it being pitch black (odd for UD but w/e). So they shouldn't chew him up too bad.

I was thinking maybe Deathrattle horde in phase 2, with Necromancer.

Phase 3 is the One where I try to ensure his death, he is bringing at least one magmadroth so in phase 3 I am thinking Blood Knights, Mannfred and Zombie Dragon lol. But we will see.

Aye, this is certainly a good plan. Anyway, it's also important to have a suitable landscape as well. The map in the book is really fantastic, maybe one of the best if anything. GW definitely knows how to make a good map! Especially I like the Mortuary Factory. What could that be?
