Sorry if this is the wrong place or if it is inappropriate to start a new thread for this but is there any chance that someone with experience (and a lot of free time) can update the collection of useful tactics in the near future? I don't know if it is too much to ask for since it will be very time consuming, I guess...

Sometimes I am looking for a new way of using this unit or that. Then again, I want to add a new one and have no idea if it's worth the investment or how it is played. Do I have to change my entire list and build around it or can I simply add it to my old list? etc. etc...

So apart from useful tactics in general and unit-specific tactics it would also be very useful to read about synergies between different units and which match-up to avoid. I think it would be great and at least some of us would benefit from the different views (or accordances) of the more experienced players.

Good idea or not?

People have been working on this of late, because of a thread very like this one. I did my part on Beastmen, at the very least, and I may pick up another army I am familiar with if someone else doesn't get to it first.

I guess you're talking about the Army Specific Tactics, right? I know them and I love and appreciate them but I was actually talking about this thread: https://www.vampirecounts.net/Thread-VC-Tactics-Library-collection-of-useful-tactics-updated-2010-03-03

The last update is from March 2010, so not very up to date...
Possibly a collection of "how do I protect my general/master necro" or "how do I use a horde of ghouls correctly" and so on...

You can always do a search for whatever unit you are interested in looking at and then read through the threads that come up.
Really the entire website is a collection of useful tactical articles. Trying to condense them all into one thread is difficult.

I think a thread is quite possible. Perhaps not 100% of it, but the majority.

For example. I myself have a limited diversity of armies/opponents in my local scene. When venturing to a big tournament or something, I will run into armies I could use a little help on. Specific threads dont cover every match up.

Also, if somone does want to throw in a new unit, some help could be provided. For example(again) dont run a horde of skellies if your gonna use em, make em 5 wide...or keep your t-ghiest behind your CH they can soak up some cannonballs) just stuff like that, in one stickied thread, kept updated and sorted by the mods. I think this would be useful and would help keep new Vampires from re-posting stuff the rest of us have seen already as well as provide one single place for everyone to look on the most optimal ways to use our awesome army.

Here is somthing that could help.(hypothetically)

Ghouls strong matchups:
Lizardmen: blagh blagh
Chaos: blagh blagh(but not if x is present)

Ghouls bad matchups
.......
......

Helpful Terrorghiest tips
(insert the thread [condensed]I made on t-ghiests and other's as well)

I do not think that will be too difficult..a bunch of people could post on this thread and the mods could have a locked thread that is current and updated and organized to help out noobies and people trying out new stuff as well.

Just my three cents

I have been here long enough to know that most threads are interesting and I am convinced with some searching I will find any answer I want to get. But let us assume I want to add some Crypt Horrors. There are may threads about these guys: how deep, how many should I field? Is a horde of them any good? What about a champion? Is it a viable alternative to Grave Guard? How do they differ? Damage output? And so on...

It will take me hours to dig through months of posts...

I know you cannot put each and every detail of each and every unit in a single post. My first intention was to simply update the tactics thread. Collect links to threads that are about a specific tactic or unit.

But kevin.hopkins7 made me think. If we are able to write a thread for every enemy army, why not write one for every unit in exactly the same way? No rule or tactic discussion there. Just experienced players who talk about their own view and, well, experience.

One could as well update the link collection to provide threads with different views and discussion. This will as well keep people from reposting the same question over and over.

I know the Dear Johnny and always have a great time reading it but since it is a mix of a lot of things (beastmen and, weirdly, even Dr. Who), one cannot find reliably a simple answer.

But thanks so far. I hope you will consider it further...

I plan to once I get some time write up and pin a unit by unit item by item breakdown of our entire book and rate things and the works. Should take me like a weekend of only working on that though which right now is out of my reach. It will be done though, I promise.

No one interested any more? Sorry to start again but I hope this thing will get to something sometime...

I wonder why not many new player are interested in his since it would help a lot I reckon...

Oh sorry, Johnny. I didn't know you are already working on this whole thing... So forgive my impatience.

I am keen on reading your collection of wisdom in (hopefully not too far) future!
