So fellas!
I was wondering what kind of lists, combos and builds you play (for those who play) under the ETC restricts.

I myself cant really decide, as I am quite new to the army and still are trying things out.

Usually I stick to what I know, and that is taht I love everything that flies/hovers.

T-bats, dragons, Morghasts, Fell bats and so on, so generally I play fast (or SOMEWHAT fast) lists.

How do YOU harvest victory points? :D

Any Dual-Engine, Caster vampires or even dual Terrorgheist players out there?

Haven't really seen what the meta is like much, to be honest. Been liking my double blender build but it's tight at 2,500, not sure how I'd cut 100 points. Struggles against MSU lists that are tough to get points off of. Compared to Swedish though, I'm thinking not being down 400 points against those lists would be nice though haha.

I've run double engines with some success. You don't see many cannons under ETC comp and bolt throwers struggle to take them down. What with so many elves being around their MSU T3 units really don't like the aura. For those armies it can be quite a good match up even though you're so slow.

Particularly with the scenarios you don't necessarily have to table people to get 20-0 so again being a little slow isn't a deal breaker. The BK bus is still probably the best outright list there is but I do miss my +2 to cast without my engines.

Right up until you miscast :P

I did the math once, but I believe you are expected to miscast something like 2-3 times a tournament if attempting to cast 2-3 spells per turn on 2-3 dice, and suck your general down a hole in 1 of every 3 tournaments.

But yeah, double engine list does well against MSU and low-T lists. My concern is how it fares against something like WoC with all their mobile, fighty characters. Do you not find that they can quite easily maneuver around you and pluck out the MEs, while grinding out your blocks with crushers and the like?

I agree except I brought a level 4 MN to do the casting so I was not risking my Vamp lord.

That was the matchup I had to face in one of my games: double DPs, tzeentch disc lord, 3x5 horseman, 4 chariots and 4 skullcrushers. I castled, only option really, and managed with some luck to bag the disc lord, skullcrushers, a chariot and all the horseman before I was tabled. And since I broke him first in blood and glory it was a 15-5 to him. Skullcrushers disliked the S8 strigoi...

(I really need to write up the whole event but time at the moment is tight.)

It depends if we are talking about a singular or a team tournament.

On your own, you have to make an all-corners list, because don´t know what will be facing; but in a team, with the pairings and all that, you can build a more specific army, given that the worst match-ups will be avoided (well...in theory).

In my local meta, and almost the whole ETC community of my country (spain), the BK bus is practically non existent. We usually take a skeleton bus, with a blender lord, lvl 4 death, crypt horrors and a t-bat. That´s the core of the vast majority of lists. Then there are variations, like:

- The equipment of the characters
- Some Strigois blenders
- More or less, or even none ethereals (HWs have been literally removed)
- Mannfred
- Morghasts
- Mortis Engines
-...

Manny was very popular in the last big team tournament, for example.

In fact, that´s my main doubt nowadays: take him or not. He is veery expensive, but also absurdly powerful, and with only 2 caps (practically free: the LD10 spirit leech, and vlv4 death are included, so...), it´s a BIG temptation.

How do people run morghasts exactly?

Cant seem to figure out if I want a big block of 4 (hard to move around)
Or 2 units of 2, which seems much better for zone-presence, but actually gets taken out if they stray to far away from the nearest IoN.

Well for reference from call to war:

Again bear in mind this is singles but yeah distinct lack of BKs.

Is death really THAT powerful in ETC? Perhaps it's because we play a lot of WLD in my meta, but I basically never see death anymore. It's too much of a liability, the range is too short, and most people have wards and MR anyways. to deal with all of the magic missiles out there.

To me Manny just seems way too expensive for what he does. I suppose he has more reach than most VC builds do, but he still seems rather ridiculously overcosted and far too fragile for what he does.

Lore of death works on these lists because you have to come to them to get their points. A DP only has a 5++ against spirit leech unless they've shelled out for MR. I guess it's also that it might allow you to push through LoV spells too.

And yeah the main problem with manny is how he is literally made from tissue paper! It actually makes waystalkers threatening...

It's what makes brolocks an autoautoinclude in ETC, you get a great debuff without the comp hit for Ld10 LoD. The dark elves are really hit hard under this comp though I feel. You just don't get more than 2 pegs in lists any more.

So would you just stick with the vamps like I did? +6 to cast is beastly. Curse of years needing a 6 on dice...mwahaha

Elves arent alone you know.
Lizzies cant really have more than 2 cowboys either.

Im feeling like vamps, but im not done testing dumb stuff with them yet, so that might be a problem :P

Not only death, but also vampires is what makes the difference. I mean, taking the TWO lores with TWO level 4´s.

Death, being itself the most powerful (or at least dangerous, if you want say it so) lore, is even better for our army, because it sinergizes very well with a lot of VC characteristics:

- It gives us ranged damage. SERIOUS damage, not just a "useful" magic missile. The 3 snipers and the purple sun are things that many armies fear, and by a reason: they just can win the game.
- Soulblight and D&D are maybe the most powerful hexes known, and relatively easy to cast. And D&D with a terrorgheist, well...
- It forces the opponent to use his dispel dice/scroll, making a lot easier cast after Vampires spells.

Being so "free" for us, only 2 of 5 caps, i find it almost mandatory take a lvl 4 death, beside our classic lvl 4 vamps. A master necro, or manny doing everything...? That´s the choice.

@DanteAlSimmon, 4 archai is just an amazing unit. So powerful, useful, dangerous and resilient that seems an abuse, despite how much they cost.
