Ghoul King Models

Hi all,

I've been building up an undead legion in 8th that I'm now using in AoS. I don't plan on rebasing my army at this stage but now as im adding to the army I think ill start basing on rounds from this point on.

Now I've always liked the Ghoul Kings fluff wise, I have modelled the Strigoi from the zombie dragon kit leaping over a rock, and have put a TK death mask on him to complete the Undead Legion lead by a Ghoul King theme.

Now moving into AoS I plan on starting a Vampire counts beasts style force and get away from the TK's for a time (although ill be summoning them on hehe). I'd like a nice Ghoul King model to lead the beasts but I dont wish to use the same model as before.

I've seen the heresy ones and IMO they don't really suit the image of a Ghoul King that I have in my head. I had an idea to convert one out of the Crypt Horrors but am not sure of the scale, although they do say in the fluff that many ghouls are hulking beasts.

Anyone have any thoughts about using a crypt horror? Or any other alternatives.

Crypt Horrors are pretty big compared to strigoi. I would suggest Bloodletters, once you trim down the head and smooth out the skin texture they look a lot like the picture from the VC army book. A quick google search turned this up:

If you want a bit more bulk and weight a savage orc big boss would make a good base, like this one:

I've also seen dark eldar ur-ghuls made into strigoi but they are very small.

I was also going to suggest Bloodletters. There's a plog around here where somebody used them as more Ghoul Kings, but I can't seem to find it. They look pretty awesome, though, with a headswap from the Tbat Ghoul King or even just a Ghoul head.

Certainly a good base for a very visceral-tearing gut-rending man-beast type character. Although I do think they look a lot better with the bumpy skins smoothed out, it reminds me too much of the Demon itself when you leave them on (Plus it isn't really bringing any element that the SGK needs on it to the model).
