Hello everyone, I'm making the silly mistake of returning to wargaming and modelling after a long time and finally building the undead army i wated in the early nineties.

More to come but I do have a burning question: has anyone ever bought minis from the asian recasters? Thereare a few on ebid that have geat feedback but I'm not sure if it's bullsh*t or not?

I'm from England but currently live in China. I've picked up a few knock offs and the quality varies depending on the miniature.

Generally, I've found them all to be inferior but mostly to a very small degree. I picked up a few Squigs and some OOP Night Gobbo characters (you can see them in my PLOG in 'Faces of Our Next Meal', or click the link in my signature).

Metal ones are cast in a softer metal and resin ones are cast in better stuff than the junk GW calls 'Finecast'. Fine details like small skull teeth and claws are occasionally not as well cast as originals.

With the distressing murder of the Warhammer world, I find myself with a great deal of freedom to build a story around my army in the context of the Ninth Age world. A great deal of this is built around certain worderful models, one of which is Forgeworld's Elspeth Von Daken model which is unfortunatley, an appalling price - especially when coupled with their shipping costs.
There exists a cheaper version on ebid but I'm worried about spending a large amount of money on a bit of knock-off rubbish.

@QuothTheRaven That's definitely one discerning thing about some of GW's stuff; the prices. I'm still having a hard time bringing myself to pay £60+ for five Blood Knights.

The detail on a lot of the ones I got were actually pretty good and only distinguishable from the real thing by the material they were cast in.

I am in no way paying for GW's blood knights. It's fucking ridiculous. I bought the Gamezone mournful knights set, which TBH is not a great deal cheaper but they are in metal and the standard bearer and bearer and captain are worth it on their on their own.
