got an interview for GW

sadly i didnt get the job i had a phone interview at 9AM and my interviewer sounded hung over lol. :lol: and he didnt seem impressed at the fact i told him i mainly play necromunder, blood bowl, inquisitor, talisman, quest ect he said "well you do realize you have to promote the main 3 games"

They asked you about warhammer? they didnt even ask me a single thing about games workshop products... They just asked me very dry general retail questions.

i had the lame questions as well, "do you understand the position" "what does games work shop store mean to you" "what are the goals of a games workshop employee"

but because my covering letter mentioned alot about now long i'd been playing i had other questions and stuff.

Rather odd, I don't play LoTR and I didn't get asked anything about it, all I got asked about was meeting targets, can you give a example of good customer service, I had spoke to someone about working for GW and he said all they do is get your instore, see if you can run demo game, look at some mdoels and done, might be a sign that GW is becoming so much less hobby focused.

I think it might depend who interviews, I have a feeling its because I sent them a email with my new contact Information and told them I was moving, funny thing is (which tells you the level competence in the management) they didn't even know when mu local GW was actually open or that it had staffing problems!

sounds like GW, to be fair i've noticed most shops atm seem to be understaffed and have ridiculous opening hours

yea i got told in store that there was only like 15 jobs or some thing seemed a bit dull to me. o_o i think each store should be responsible for hiring its own staff not going through head office... the people that spend less time in GW stores than the pope. and i's bet a tenner that the popes never been in one.

Well that's how a normal company does it but the again GW only hire managers now! I don't even think the person who interviewed me knew anything about GW products, the other problem is when you interviewed by someone who doesn't work in the store you will be working you actually can't ask a lot of good questions because they simply do not know the answers and you feel your wasting time.

Logan 054, did you apply to the one in colchester? coz that one has serious staff issues on the moment! cant believe you were interviewed by someone who doesn't work in the store! that is just ridiculous! oh well, its their loss!

Well I was told you can't apply for a store, they only hire managers and they go to the store they send you, I might have to pop into the Colchester store when its open and have a word with the manager, from what I gather they used to interview you instore, get you to run a demo game and show them some models. I could tell the women who interviewed wasn't interested in GW products when I asked her about if Managers get to know about new products. Honestly I don't think the right hand knows what the left hand is doing, I also applied for a trainee Eavy metal painter, my acknowledgement email said if you don't her back in 10 days please contact us, I did this and like a hour after the phone call I was told my application hadn't successful has I didn't meet the Criteria (BTW I do commission painting for a company and am part of Mantic's circle so figure that one out).

I emailed GW last week with my new contact information because I moved to my grans bungalow to be rent free and had a new number, I get a email back again within a few days saying pretty much the same thing, my only conclusion is the lady in HR doesn't like people who are over enthusiastic about working for the company, I mean what qualifications do you blood need to work in a toy shop!

Omg that is absolutely crap! GW clearly arent helping their company with the way they are running things. I would pop into colchester and ask wtf. That sucks about eavy metal aswel, you could ask them what exactly they ment by you "didn't meet the criteria". I thought the only qualifications you would need is passion for the games and knowledge of the models and games. hm... I am not impressed with GW. Especialy as they really need more staff in colchester! whenever i try to go in there its always damn closed, hope its open thursday, i really need more skeles! lol

To be honest not working for the Eavy metal team is for the best, I don't have to spend all day painting models no one else want's to, from the sounds of it you would spend all day painting core troops, awesome stuff! :'( Like i said, I have a feeling its because I asked about my application, GW never used to be like that but then I can remember the prices being a lot lower and being able to speak to mail order and ask them to make you a army deal, how things change I did actually email them back about the trainee manager's position because I was offered a managers position at a company called JTS in to town however I didn't fancy working 6 days a week 10am-11pm. I think it's open today actually, I believe some black library writer is coming down.
