Hello, I've been playing WFB for about a year now and have about 3000 points of Bretonnians. I want to start a second army and the vampires seem really cool, but the fact that it's really model heavy (with all those zombies) is a little off putting. Any recommendations on where to start?

I'd buy the Lord/Hero models I liked, and a bunch of Mantic Zombies/Ghouls, then wait a couple of months for the new VC book to appear, to see what it brings with it this time as far as new unit and so forth. We know very little of what will happen at the moment, so I wouldn't spend too much money on a VC army before the new book comes out.

Probably the best thing you could do to cut down on models would be to use Unit filler.

Also, we may need a lot of models, but they are much easier to paint than Brets. You don't really have to have a stellar paint job for zombies; any 'mistakes' can be mud, splattered blood, rotting flesh, rags, etc, etc. They're supposed to look horrible.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I have also heard from a few people that the VC's are also hard to play for new people. Again, I've been playing for about a year I have won once, tied a few, and lost more. Are the counts really that hard?

They were my first army; they play 'differently' but picking up orcs and goblins as my second army, I think Vamps are easier to play. Less variables. Less options as well, but you can put together a solid plan that isn't as easily disrupted.

I think Orcs are harder to play, but that's just me.

I find them easier because: they will never flee- they have good infantry( Grave Guard ) - you can replenish troops - they have some very useful heroes ( Wight Kings )
I find them harder because: they will never flee, so they crumble - you HAVE to have a good magic phase, or lots of usable items - your core troops suck - everything is too expensive, points wise.
Having said that, I agree with Uziel. Get a character model you like and a few ghouls/zombies/whatever floats your boat, then see what the new book brings. Have fun with the Bloodsuckers !

Hello,
Well this is the great post sending by you. i find them harder due to the reason they will never flee.and the main disadvantage is this that every thing is so expensive
