Hello! Since this is my first post here let me start by introducing myself. I've been into Warhammer for quite some time 9 years in total, although I had a break for 4 years. I was by chance passing by the local GW store with an old friend 2 months ago who also used to play Warhammer. We decided to start painting 2 new armies and seeing the ghastly models of the new VC I decided that this would be the army that I'd collect.

I've lurked on these forums for a little before deciding that I wanted to join VC.net and show u what I have painted so far.
I opted for purple as my main color with a little green here and there.

Anyway on with the army!

Let me emphatize your work on the necromancer. I love it. Let's face it, the model is so ugly, but the paintjob you've given him makes him look VERY cool. Simple yet effective, that's how I like it :)

Congrats!

How're you painting the gold? Just wondering as my DE's are going to be quite golden and I'm not sure how best to start with them.

undercoat: chaos black

step 1: bestial brown on the golden parts.

I find that a brown undercoat means u don't need a very thick gold coat afterwards and u can mix it with some water and gold melds nicer with the brown than the black.

step2. shining gold layer over the bestial brown parts.

step3: wash with mixed chestnut ink + black ink + PVA glue + water (10 parts chestnut, 2 parts black, 1 part glue 8 parts water).

It should be a dark brown color. the glue really helps to prevent dehydration of the ink and it makes it have a thicker consistence as well. The wash just works that much better. After the mixing is done it should feel about as thick as an undiluted ink. Making the wash is the tricky part but once u get it right u have a nice wash u can use for everything. I've used it on bone the armour and weapons of all the troops and this wash brings out the detail of pretty much anything u need. This is the secret of painting my army.

step4: highlight with shining gold

step5: extreme highlight with pure mithril silver

Exactly! which is why I dig it too. I've tried to go a bit lighter but with a tone down by the wash I give my models. Yours just look great. You've made them all look splendid.

What will you be painting next?

RE: Hardt saying hello! + army pics (updated)

Hey again guys and gals! I've been slacking a little with painting due to school and GF taking too much time... However this evening I finnished painting my Dire wolves!

Anyways I decided instead of posting new topics I'll just make replys in this thread to keep things more gathered (that's why there are Corpse cart pics here too).

Please comment!

Uniting the army is actually the biggest problem I have as many models don't seem to have areas where u can paint the colors on (purple + green). Still the green skin ties them together somewhat because it is one of the colors I chose. I dunno I just couldn't find any spot where I could put some liche purple in. The ghouls share the same problem of not having any purple anywhere.

RE: Hardt saying hello! + army pics (updated)

hey again people!

I've been working with my newest creation. The bone giant!

Okey so he's not vampire counts but we can still hire giants as dogs of war and I plan on fielding him as such. But he fits in with the rest of my army quite well.

Comments are very welcome.:P

hm... Maybe the rope the skull is hanging in could be green or the cloth or vest he's wearing. Though that would require quite some work but I think I'll do that thanks for the tip :P

RE: Hardt saying hello! + army pics (update 7 jan)

Hey again! After a long break with christmas and new year. I have finished a few more things, some more skeletons and thanks to your help I have updated the bone giant to make him more unique and scary by painting him more green and purple and adding a necklace of skulls!

RE: Hardt saying hello! + army pics (update 7 jan)

I (think) I did it through some bleched bone + goblin green. Then I washed it with some chestnut ink + black ink + pva glue and highlighted with basemix and by adding more and more bleched bone to the mix.
