Helm of command quick question

I've just finished a game vs O&G, and I have one question about Helm of command.

I have Vamp with this item, in unit of skellies, and other unit of ghouls. Both of them are in CC, and because is my turn, i can resolve combats in order that i want (?), and i choose to go firs with vamp with helm of command. I win combat, he flies, can now ghouls use WS from helm?

Yes, it's cleared up in the FAQ, basically if he's not in combat at the exact moment he wishes to use the Helm then it's ok.

And one more question, if lord is in unit, that wishes to use helms WS, does lord have 7 or helms 6 (assuming that thrall is with helm)?

You are giving the whole unit WS6, so you'd nerf your lord slightly.

You give the unit WS X, not WS X, unless they can manage something better.

You will always defer to the better stat line for the lord. The unit would get the 6 but he will stay a 7. That item is one of the best in the VC arsenal, I'm glad you are mastering the usage.

Though stating from Fodderboy, he makes me question myself. I cannot honestly quote any page number from a book, but that is what I always played it as. Fodderboy, if you can state somewhere specific, then I will stand corrected.

The only condition is that the wearer is not in CC at the time. There is no mention of whether or not the unit has a higher WS. I'll give you a VC page number in 3 hours, when I can get to my book.

Actually Fodderboy is not the one who has to find where it's stated, you do. Nowhere does it state that a character is exempt from the helm because he has a better stat.

The wording on the helm is "one friendly Undead unit ... may use".

To me that reads that the whole unit, inclusive of characters contained, does or the whole unit doesn't. The key word for causing arguments there is "may".

I'd be inclined to say it's all-or-nothng.

Hmm... the wording does cause a slight issue. However, I'd be inclined to agree that the entire unit would get WS "X" in place of their own WS. (So, yes, if a Thrall used the Helm on a unit which included a Vampire Lord, then the Lord would suffer from the lesser WS)

The "may" to me is simply giving permission for an entire unit (within range) to be affected by the Helm.
