Ive done both plastic and metal in simple green concentrate with not damage to the minis. Usually 24 hours is sufficient, but I have actually left plastic minis in the cup for up to a month with no damage, though I wouldn't recommend taking the risk.

It seems that once you get a couple days soaking it doesn't make any difference in how much paint it takes off. Most of it will wash right off, but a toothbrush and a small pick could be handy for getting into the deep creases.

Actually, I just did some simple green paint removal recently, stripping poorly painted Dark Elves from my first days of miniature painting. I found 1 to 3 days of soaking great for metal minitures. I let plastic miniatures soak for two weeks and everything came off except the black GW primer, which I dont understand why!?!?!?!?!

I think that has more to do with the chemical bonding that the spray paint has on the plastic. However, I've used other more abrasive stuff: 100%Acetone. This stuff you do have to watch what you put it on. If you use it on any plastic it will melt it within a day or two.

Good luck with the simple green.

Simple green is something like a paint stripper?

Personally I just use a nail polish remover. I doesn't work on plastic so beware! I believe I just left the metal mini's in there for about 15 to 30 mins... a toothbrush did the rest. Not sure if this helps.

Could you post a link to the product?

www.simplegreen.com that should help. The nail polish remover I use is the 100% stuff. Pure remover.

yea for metal I use nail polish remover its great =) but for plastic its a pain it works but I killed a about 100 bucks worth on minis so I needed to find something different for a commision put them in pure simple green and about 6 hrs later all the paint came off and the greenstuff was safe.

I found a bunch of simple green for about 8 bucks at home depot

Ive also tried Easy Off oven cleaner for metal minis. It is basicallly Sodium Hydroxide in spray form. Takes the paint off metal almost immediately but is cumbersome to use. I guess if you had thick paint you could hit it with that first and then follow up with a long soak in simple green to get the rest off.

I use very strong false nail remover to strip my metals. Dunk them in a glass and leave them for 10-60 minutes depending on how effectively the paint is coming off. Some strip cleanly in under 30 seconds some need more than an hour with me taking them out every so often and scrubbing them with a nail brush.

As for plastics, unless the paint on them is particularly thick I just paint over it.
