I'd say charging is done in the movement phase, it could be affected by things that for example enhance or restrict movement and your models are moving across the board. And there for it is movement. I just looked it up in the BRB, and it says that charge is needs los and no restrictions from interferring units or terrain in order for it to be legal. The only question is perhaps how to line them up if only one Hexwraith was able to see the enemy at the start of the charge phase

Sounds like the people your playing are being gits. Have them open their rule books and look at page 15, movement phase summery. Charge, compulsory, and remaining moves.....All moves! And as for lining them up, just play it like a regular charge and follow the rules for maximising numbers in combat. As long as no models end up in impassable terrain you have a legal charge.

I find the Hex wraiths to be fantastic anti-chaff and something that panics many of my opponents. Honestly, they're terrified by the freedom and no-armor save action. Even when I play them poorly, they take focus. I just easily removed some Steeds of Slanesh the other day by running through, then was able to angle to deal with the other packs of chaff he had coming around the flanks. With a mobile lord on a Zombie Dragon - you can really control things.

Say, i dont have the book in front of me to check... but i was just listening to the battle report from the guys at Garagehammer; they claimed no armor saves from the Soul Reaper, pass-through ability. I always thought the book only specified 'no armor saves vs their attacks in CC' but said nothing about the Soul Reaper ability. Anyone know if the run-through is also flaming/magical?

People do over react to hex wraiths. They act as if its the horsemen of the apocalypse. I've had more than one opponent ignore my terroghiests because they put so much into avoid or trying to destroy the hex wraiths.

They tear up things like chaos knights with soul strider. The ride through, reform to turn around and then rear charge next turn or ride through again works very well.

I wouldn't start getting them in combat with Chaos Knights though. Riding through is fine, but in combat the Knights will strike first with 2 to 3 S5 magic attacks each... Goodbye Hexwraiths!

I didn't phrase that very well. I meant that as two separate statements and it didn't come out that way. Don't engage units with magic attacks people!! Hex wraiths die very badly when you do!!!

I mostly agree with this view.

But what if your charge fails and it puts you inside the impassable terrain... then what?

BTW ethereal movement cant by modified by things that restrict or reduce movement rather if it be magical or otherwise.
