Currently thinking about revisiting the Vamps after quite a few years away (thanks to all the new rumours), and I'm pondering if there is a rough and ready number of skeletons and Zombies that you need to bring along for raising during a game?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Skeletons and Zombies are one of the most important units of the VC army. With the current rumours, it appears the Invocation of Nehek gets nerfed. The Invocation of Nehek is a very important spell for the VC, meaning that you'll end up raising a lot of Zombies(and Skeletons). Though, why buy 100 Skeletons/Zombies(/both) and then use only a part of it when the new army arrives?

Even though the new army is 6 months away, as well as the probability that the stuff can change overtime, is still a big differenence in money.

It seems that Necromancers can raise a lot of unit types, perhaps only adding to units (who knows?), and Vampires Zombies (but can raise units... again, who knows?).

VC armies now would use around 40-60 Zombies (raising) and about 20-40 Skeletons for direct fielding.

This varies though.

Too be honest I'm not too worried about the money as I will get a few months gaming out of it as well as being able to field larger armies when the new book comes out!

Is this what you bring along/raise on average?

About the guidelines I'd give, yes.

If you have practically unlimited casting regarding Invocation of Nehek, then you can easily raise that number of Zombies.

It depends on how many points we're talking though. What I stated was along 2k points.

wow, how many zombies???

I haven´t had the chance of raising any single zombie since the apparition of the 7th edition and it´s not only a problem of luck, all my enemies are obsessed with dispelling my spells and I have to trust in bound spells (which are so limited that everybody knows I´m going to use them...)

I normally use 2 units of 20 skeletons and 2 units of ten zombies in a long queue protecting flanks of the main units or redirecting or stopping charges... now I´m including one bunker of 10 or 15 too (death rates between my necromancers are too high...)and I use invocation as many times they let me... (by the way, the restriction of using power dices is a bit disgusting, but I have to agree with the opinion that´s fair and as much "reallistic" as magic could be)
