I'm having a problem with how CN is displayed - I'll try to describe as best I can.
The page is stretched out beyond the screens: I've lost a fair margin on the right, and I have to scroll to see what is on the left. There are numerous alignement problems, such as the search bar disappearing onto the next 'line'. All text in posts and forum titles and descriptions on the main page have been centered. I can see 'Random Quote', but no quote. That's most of what can be easily described
Due to laptop problems, I'm currently using a laptop from the dark ages, running windows XP and an old version of internet explorer (Yes, I know). It also has a very small screen.
The thing is, I could have sworn CN loaded fine the first time I opened it, but before to long it disintegrated into what I have discribed.
In addition, I could view the forum normally when I switched to CN's old theme, but the post icons and such had reset to the default Mybb ones. Moreover, I surmised that the new Quotes in the RQG wouldn't be there as it is the old theme, but if that is not the case and I have just been unlucky with which quotes have come up, I'll settle for the old theme.
Any help would be much appreciated.

ok, I tried that (in fact I did it so much I got a servor error AND a fatal error (I also tried doing it slowly as well, fyi)), but the layout and everything is still really messed up.

Harland:

What are you using:
Operating system = (Windows XP)
Browser type and version (IE... something. Im' guessing 6 as that's the default with XP.)
What resolution are you using for your screen (right click on your screen and hit 'properties'. Then click on the Settings tab.
what device are you using (laptop).

What I'm guessing is that your resolution is low enough that the site is wrapping. The creator assumes a minimum resolution.

Understand what you are looking at is Markup text interpreted by a browser using Operating System dlls. What the site 'truly' looks like is this:

<!DOCTYPE html><!-- start: showthread -->
<html xml:lang="en" lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>How the forum is displayed</title>
<!-- start: headerinclude -->
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Latest Threads (RSS 2.0)" href="https://www.vampirecounts.net/syndication.php" />
<link rel="alternate" type="application/atom+xml" title="Latest Threads (Atom 1.0)" href="https://www.vampirecounts.net/syndication.php?type=atom1.0" />

Its like the Matrix. But less cool.

You'll never believe this, but I just discovered I was running the page in compatability mode. I must have clicked it by accident - everything is fine now. Thank you very much for your help anyway, Grish!

How do you 'run a page' in compatibility mode?

Maybe you're running IE in compatibility mode...?

Weird. DO you have an internet shortcut to the site or something?

no. I think the correct term is 'compatability view'. If I'm confusing you with my noobishness, I mean the button next to refresh with the picture of a torn sheet of paper (IE8).

Yeah, compatibility view... cuz those programmers can't write sh!t properly to save their life, so now we have built in workarounds in our software!

Hello new member here, and I have some problems finding my way around the site. Most of it due to failing to orientate around all the forums that in my mind seams to be all the same at this moment. But to my 3 biggest problems.

1
Who's bright idea was it to have the text "Welcome back (username)" and "you have x new messages" written in black on a black background? Can I alter this from my own usersettings or is it just the way it is? Maybe this is in conektion to my prob 3 if that menu should be in another place then where it is (right now right under the red Carpe Noctem sign)
2
Due to maybe me being half blind (I hope not) or bad forum signs I cant find where to create a new post, where do I go to do this?
3
I have the same problem as Harland above and I'm not running the site in any strange way, and all other sites are fine, what to do?

(Edit) And is there a button that enables you to fallow the threads you have posted in? If not can some one make one, and if its exists, where is it?

This can be corrected in 2 different ways.
a) Make your screen resolution higher (ie. make everything smaller), or
b) Change the font size in your browser (Ctrl and minus-sign for smaller, and Ctrl and plus-sign for bigger).

2. Due to maybe me being half blind (I hope not) or bad forum signs I cant find where to create a new post, where do I go to do this?

There is a "NEW THREAD" button on the far right side of the page, at both the top and the bottom, in any forum that you can posted in.

I still have yet to see this occur outside of using a very low screen resolution. Adjusting your screen res higher will likely correct this as well.

(Edit) And is there a button that enables you to fallow the threads you have posted in? If not can some one make one, and if its exists, where is it?

a) Under the User CP, then Edit Options is where you can find the subscription options. You can set this to notify you for threads you have posted in.

b) At the top of sub-forum (again far right side) there's an option for Subscribe to this (sub)-forum.
