I dont think Im using IoN good enough

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
26 PD may be overdoing it a little. At least give your buddy early warning, and if he doesn't want to play that kind of an Army, I wouldn't force him to do it. The sheer amount of Bodies you can summon at the point range is truly immense! It would truly become a Game of kill-the-casters, as they wouldn't be able to slow through all the possible zombies.

It sounds like a fun idea, but unless their list is tailored, and given forewarning, I can see a lot of angry looks heading your way.

With single dice IoNs, 26 PD, a master power, and a cart...holy crap. Throw in the staff to really kick him in the nads.

Mannfred has the skull staff and the sceptre de noirot ^^

And since its bretonnia im not particurarly afraid of ranged attacks so thats why my lords are mounted on hellsteeds (Mannfred and a normal Vamp lord with dark acolyte and master of the black arts)

Yeah, you can really make Mannfred into a sick caster (as if he isnt already one). That double arcane item rule is sick.

Has anyone gotten any use out of his sword, though? It seems counter to his strength to throw him into combat (with no ward save).

All you've got to do, Adrift, (in theory, never having used Mannfred) is pick your fights. Let him fight your enemies core troops. Men at Arms, Night goblins, plain Ork Boyz, Clanrats or even slaves! Get him to where he can reliably do simple wounds, no matter of winning combat, and just lay the beatdown on some living thing. Most of our spells can be cast in and out of combat, so it really doesn't matter if he's stuck in with weak troops, against some armies it's preferable!

Can't see me to shoot me, losers! Oh, wait. You have tails. D'oh!

But, yes. Joking aside. Get him stuck in with weak troops where his sword can do well, without great fear of reprisal.

Ive launched him into combat together with some blood knights and the drakenhoff banner, one round he killed 4 high elf (something, cant remember) which granted him 4 extra power dices, giving him a total of 10(!). Ive also managed to get him killed by some executioners with that damned banner (ASF).

He can die pretty easy sometimes if you're not careful with him, he's not like Vlad who is unkillable.
But he's still a Vampire Lord with 5 wounds which isnt bad for such a good caster

The game i just played vs Bretonnia (the one with 26 power dice) i managed to get him killed, he was also my general.. but it didnt matter i still won the game. Even a unit of grail knights + crumble tests could kill my zombie unit (which at turn 6 was at 146 zombies) and it started at 30. The reason for Mannfred dying was that i hid him behind a zombie unit and was suppose to raise a shitload of zombies into that unit making it a tarpit for a grail knight unit but! he miscasted immediately ending my magic face and then they just ran through the zombies and then killing mannfred..

That's a true Zombie Raiser! I'm gonna start calling you Brother, my Necrarch minded friend! The more bodies the better.

I'm seriously wanting to get an all Zombie list going. With 4 casty lords, and maybe some black knights for a hammer. Wouldn't it be awesome to start with 250+ zombies? Seriously.

That, and in any casual game you'd have more than enough summon fodder.

146?! Did you have enough models for such a huge unit? I would have loved to have seen a pic of that.

haha no i just used whatever models that were around ^^

Occassionaly a friend and I agree to "hardcore" lists beforehand... to see what we come up with... that's about once every few months.

It leads to funny games sometimes... LOL

Though for the 146... I'd pin it with something cheap... like Nurglings! :P Have something with Nurgling Infestation nearby (or 2)... let the slap fight commence!

Well he charged it with his Grail knights, because it wasnt that big of a unit to start with but 26 PD of IoN can do that to a zombie unit ^^

Though, I don't have much experience with the ION, I do however play Lizardmen, With the power becalming cognation I can make you discard sixes, so against lizards only use three dice max,,,,

I used 1 power dice per IoN, wich makes mannfred cast on 3+ with 6 power dice ~ 4 IoN

The rest of the 20 power dices are cast on 4+ ~ 10 successfull. Which would make it 14 successfull IoN and the typhical roll is either 3 or 4 which makes it either 7 or 8 per IoN.

which means 70-80 raised zombies per turn, if your lizardmen and you force me to discard 6's if would be alot less.

I know this is a bit of topic but, is this a good combo for magic lord, main core=ghouls

Vampire Lord
Points: 345
Powers :
Ghoulkin
Summon Ghouls
Dread Knight
forbidden Lore
Items:
Skull Staff
WBOBG

Rules 2+ AS 3+ WS
Role: SUMONING HORDES OF GHOULS

Well, if you're using a magic Lord you might want to go with the standard build:

Vampire Lord
Extra Magic Level
Master of the Black Arts
Forbidden Lore
Lord of the Dead/Summon Ghouls
Skull Staff
Helm of Commandment
Biting Blade

Keep in mind you won't really need defense if you bunker him up because you have Look Out, Sir! and you'll be in the back Helming people.
