Okay well I tried to paint my reaper mini count as necros and I could not see the details on them =\ I had to run to hobby lobby and get some opti visors well now I can see the details but i look funny and feel old this is crap because I am only 21 =\

Hmm, well do the visors have a light on them too? Those are the best. That's what my father says. Don't feel too bad, I've been toying with buying some visors so I can make sure I don't miss any critical modelling areas. Let me know how they turn out. I would really like to try a few too.

I would even suggest either getting the extra bright lamps or try for the lighbulbs that have a "realistic light" to them. My bulbs that are like that have a blue hue

oh great! The old "I feel so old" thread! I'm almost 29! As far as vision goes, I just use my normal glasses, but I will admit, there are times which are very few and far that visors can be helpful! As far as details go, let me give you a hint, either give your figures a really contrasting wash, or after you prime your model, dry brush it (try black primer, followed by a light gray). All little details will pop out and the drybrushing will give a subtle highlight depending on the opacity of the paint you are using!

Well an inch is an inch. You better make sure those glasses get stronger then ;)

I would personally go with multiple lights from different directions. I wish I had one of those lamps with a magnifying glass in the middle. Very cool.

Who cares how old you are. Really it's all about your hands being steady and how well you can steady them. Everything else is fixable.

I have perfect vision still, but I don't think I can work without my optivisor, it is so damn helpful. Specially on the super fine detail on these new miniatures. And I agree with the steadiness of the hand thing, never ever drink caffeine close to painting time, you will just give yourself a harder time.
