If you could change just one thing....

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
Yes. I used to field them as GG back when they could buy Halberds. :)

Another thing I would like to see, would be special abilities clearly tagged with "Magic", "Fire", "Ranged", "Close Combat" or other keywords. Or in general for GW to be more structured in what affects what.

Just a silly example could be tagging Unstable as "Magic", so you don't think Ethereals are immune!

It's prolly not as easy as that, and would require a major re-design. But I would really LOVE to see a tighter rules system.. It's not a new thing (Blood bowl, magic the gathering). Or maybe they need to make a True Warhammer Battle PC game just to get their rules into a logical system and then learn from that before writing up a new rules set.

Bring back the bloodlines traits.
Chaos still have theirs so i want ours dammit lol

Ugh, no. pigeonholing our Vampires into a single restrictive bloodline stereotype is boring and stifles our creativity. I much prefer the current open design philosophy.

Warhammer/Rules/Logic all in the same sentence? Sorry Smogg, you must be playing a game from a different company!

@Blutsauger As opposed to the Ogre Blade + Tali Pres + RF + QB pigeon hole that everybody runs? I miss the bloodlines a lot. You could run a caster lord with fewer points wasted on his combat power because the Necrarchs had a - to WS built in, for example.

Team Necrarch 4 lyfe, witches.

This. This and this again.

Plus a cannot agree with the arguement as boring simply because you still bought bloodline abilities. So they could still be unique

Whilst I agree with your general point, the current system is a dubious improvement.

Surely the fact that most of the current powers are absolute garbage is just as stifling to creativity?

Curse of the Revenant, Master Strike, fear Incarnate and flying horror are not much good but the rest of the powers are worth taking I think. Each of the powers also can make your vampire follow a certain bloodline as well. So I don't think the removal of the bloodlines is too much of an issue.
i.e
Dread knight- Blood Dragon
Beguile-Lahmian
Summon Dark Creatures- Von Carstein
Dark Acolyte-Necrach
Red Fury-Strigoi

Fear Incarnate... I use that in almost every battle in combination with a screaming banner and Aura of Dark Majesty.

Either way, I agree that the removal of the bloodlines is no issue. I would much rather have the choice of building the vampire than being forced into certain combinations. Especially now where the general tendency with 8th edition is fewer power and items.

Fear back to the way it was! When I used to play it sent my enemies fleeing before me, now it makes them slightly clumsy one time in twenty.

Much less crumble if within 12 inches of the Bsb. Considering how great being able to re roll every ld test is for other armies, the current 1 less is a joke.

Not a rule as such, but when gw release a new edition....they should bring out a page or two for each army adjusting them a bit to the new rules.

I also think general crumble is waaayy to devestating.

I think the problem is that our troops are paying for Immune to Psychology and Unbreakable.

However, other (non-unstable) races got BSBs and IP for free (making failing Ld tests of any kind very unlikely for the vast majority of their army), and they have steadfast - so their large blocks are very unlikely to ever flee.

Then you have items like Standard of Discipline and the Crown of Command.

Furthermore, there's also the issue that we can't flee combat, or stand and shoot (a TK problem, but worth mentioning).

Essentially, with the changes to Ld and combat, unbreakable isn't worth nearly enough to justify the huge drawbacks we suffer. Our lords in particular are hit much to hard by unstable - since they have absolutely no resistance to it. It always makes me sad that a Vampire Lord crumbles just as easily as one of the thousand nameless corpses he's animating. o_o

Also, we pay for fear - which is almost as useless in Fantasy as it is in 40k.

Yeah, Plus our troops that gin those abilities cost more for it. WS3 S3 T4 no Armor for 5 Slaves! are you kidding me?

I think ghouls should have had 6+ regenerate - both to even out their dubious cost, and also to continue the regeneration 'theme' for the ghoul units.

That would make them soo worth their points! I also think TG's should gain poison base. It would not matter at all but it would keep the same idea for the style of army.

Give the Black Coach the ability to march when it hits level 6. It's still just a support piece that falls without...supporting something (incredible wordsmithing, I know).

Auto fear would be great to have back if you outnumber and win combat but maybe instead of auto-run maybe reduced int, leadership, or weaponskill automatically.

Of course though then your back to paying an extra point or two per model for an ability you wont always get to use.

Rob already said it, but that Daemon Prince needs to be unstable. It is daemonic, and it is unstable in the daemons book. Just because it was once a Warrior of chaos means it is unbreakable? I mean seriously? my main opponent often states the only way for him to kill my vamp lord is through crumble. That should apply to a Nurgle Prince as he is just as hard to kill, if not harder.
