Hey all so i was playing a game over the weekend when this question popped up. So i cast invocation and started bringing units back (to my opponents joy). So i rolled 2d6 for zombies 1d6 for ghouls and then it came to horrors and black knights no i have always played it 1d6 for infantry but my opponent pointed out that it says on the card 'infantry gain d6 plus caster level everything else gains 1 plus caster level' would this mean i should of been raising 1 plus caster level for my horrors and knights all this time???

Yes, the wording of the card is the rule.
Zombies: 2d6+CL
Infantry: 1d6+CL
Other Units: 1+CL
Vampiric, Large Target, or Ethereal: Max 1

Well the ethereal gaining 1 wound is debateable and I am not going to start it again but ill tell you the brief RAW breakdown.

You can only restore one wound per ethereal model.
But hexwraiths have 1 wound each and cavalary gain 1 plus casters level wounds back.

Same goes for blood knights but the faq adjusted that to stop that happening but they didnt do anything with hexwraiths.

So RAW, you gain 1+ cl hexies back.

Just wanted to make you aware of this rather than spark another argument as who knows, you may figgt another vamp army that plays this way.

By all means discuss with your friend. He seems like a reasonable person so see which version he agrees with.

If you want to play VC Hard mode:

Vampiric, Etheral and Large Target UNITS get only 1 wound back via IoN.

This may or may not be as intended in the rules, nor the rules as Worded, but some opponents seem to stop complaining when you get this handicap. And we do play for fun!!

Oh this one again...

Based on the FAQ addressing Blood Knights, I'd assume that it extended to how the same rule worded the same way deals with Ethereals.

If this argument comes up, drop a smoke bomb and run away.

The key word in your statement is ASSUME. GW is so frustrating and that is why there is a RAW and Read as intended. So annoying but best to be prepared for any potential debates incase he comes across someone who plays the opposite way.

I just hope you see I am not trying to cause the debate again, but only to arm the original poster with knowledge of a potential rift lol

Oh, I see. I just want to clarify the source of the RAI reading, which is as important to know.

Seriously, if this debate comes up roll off, ask a TO, take a vote, or anything to avoid the actual debate.

That's it. I do not believe there is any question about HW. They are Ethereal and it is very clear that GW does not want Ethereal recovering too quickly.
