Just a couple of hopefully easy ones

1. Do you make vanguard moves before you roll to see who gets first turn or after?

2. Do most people roll the spells of a wizard before the model is deployed? or before anything is deployed?

2. Before anything is deployed. This is the first thing I do.

1. BRB page 144:
First turn: Roll off after deployment to see which player takes the first turn. The player that finished deploying his army first adds +1 to his roll.

BRB page 79:
After both sides have deployed all their forces (including scounts) but before either side has taken a turn, units with the vanguard special role can immediately make a 12" move...

As vanguard is part of the deployment I would say you roll AFTER vanguard moves.

2. BRB page 490:
...Before you deploy your Wizards... It could mean both things, I guess it depends on your meta, but I've only ever done it before anything is deployed.. I can't see why it matters either you have to choose what lore the wizards have when you made your list (also stated on page 490)

My game group moves vanguard after who goes first is rolled but before the turns actually start so the winner moves his vanguard first.

We usually roll after we've deployed.

Vanguard moves are done after both sides have deployed, but BEFORE the rolls to see who moves first are made. If both sides have Vanguard, then both players roll off to see who moves his vanguard units first. This roll does not affect the roll to see who has first turn, and does not involve the +1 for setting up first.

Wizards spells should be determined before any deployment is done. Simple!:lol:

I'm surprised to hear a few different takes on the questions. Does any one know how/when spells are generated in the tournament scene?. I've always done spell rolling before deploying anything but after reading the BRB it seems to be done before deploying wizards, which kinda makes sense so you can make best use of the spells and placement

Only been to one tournament so far. We all played it as select spells before any deployment.
