Well, no Papal Military yet, but I'm taking this opportunity to start working with my wonderful little camera, getting photo skillz up to par, and show off a few things I've got painted so far. Maybe this'll keep me interested to Repaint my GG, and 40 more skellies.

Phear my l33t painting skillz. One note on that, most of this stuff was done without, well, 100 % of my paints from home. I don't own ANY inks here, and I only have the foundation paint set. Saddening. I'm ordering more soon, so the quality of painting should go up sometime in the near future.

Alright, to start things off, I apologize for the Camera work. I'm practicing, so they're going to suck a bit.

Winged Vampire Lord!

I really, really like his wing. I did good on that.

Varghulf! One shot at least.

Wight King BSB, blatantly ripped from the Empire General blister.

And the Mounted Generals...Erm...Mount. Haven't painted the rider yet, he fell apart, and I've been lazy.

I've got 20 skellies fully painted, and 20 more halfway done. I've got an inking, and metallics to paint and then after that....40 more! ;;>>

I should be receiving my Papal models within three weeks, so until then, it's a lot of bone!

And, as a Random note.

Cheers.

The last miniature looks a little unlike a ghoul. I would suggest adding a bit of blood at his mouth, then paint it with a bit of gloss varnish

Sounds like you have a lot of work cut out for you. It's good to get them done too. Once you are you better post them asap. I look forward to seeing them complete. Including the ghoul.

Near Disaster!

This model company doesn't ship to APO adressess! West wind Productions, Yarg! How am I to get my Choir children? I've ordered several models from Reaper, 'bout to click yes on the characters from other sites...I need my choir kids. *thinks hard*

Might have to double ship them. That might be the only way.

A minor set back! This day is not over yet!

But, on the bright side, I'm getting this ball rolling. 'Bout to order from GW, too. My wallet is already wincing.

what I HAVE ordered:

Priest 1
Priest 2
Number two is going to lose the morning star and some armor, and he's perfect for the Cloak of Dunes.

What good is a Figurehead that can't earn your trust with a flashy, toothy grin and innocent wiles?

Also, these models....

Along with a Brettonian Trebuchet to turn into a Screaming Skull Catapult. That big GW order will probably come much later tonight when I can get on the phone with people at the WarStore. ^^

I'm still miffed about the Choir boys. Even as I'm typing this. -.-

Edit: Links were broken. Now fixed.

Some good models there. One I think once you get washes and put some on, they will look even better, as they look a bit bright at mo.

The new models look to be great as well, look forward to seeing them painted.

@cute baby xd

Just had an idea.

I was working today, and thinking about my upcoming army and the theme I wanted it to portray, and I was like...."Hey. I want this to be like good, misguided people orchestrated by bad bad men."

Bingo.

The hordes of followers my Catholic/Papal leaders would command. Would they necessarily be undead? I was planning on using my current VC skeletons as ...well...Skeletons. And those being the only undead troops in my army, but how fluffy would it be/look if I had the misguided youth of Sigmar leaping off of their pews to fight for the wrong cause?

I'm thinking peasants. Peasants, children, and church goers in fancy clothing all with the righteous fanaticism of Faith.

This idea is going to take a while to duplicate, as Devo, I believe, used a similar idea in his Carnival Clown army that I love so much. Drunk revelers, Righteous minded religious patrons, and Skeleton soldiers all have things in common, right?

Also, it'd be cool to have regimental bases that are pews. That'd be neat. I take off a casualty in the back row, and everyone has to stand up. That'd get me pissed.

"Oi! Where's me seat?"

Edit for some stupid spelling errors.

Looks like you are making the best of things with the limited paints that you have available, and also love the pew idea!

As an aside...

'Phear my l33t painting skillz.'

Damn Gen Y'ers!! When are you going you learn to speak english and stop making up your own words??! Oh, and us Gen X's had way better music from our era :P

I agree, much better music! :D Cannot and will not argue that fact. Hehe.

I only though the l33t speak in there for kicks. You're just jealous cuz you don't have the awesome verbage.

I think we're just jealous because we don't have a clue what you're going on about. Can someone please explain what "Leet" is?

I really like the misguided followers idea. Yes it may be hard to do, but I'm sure it will be well worth the effort.

When are you Generation X folks going to learn to properly puncutate sentences? :thumb::clown:

I guess there is something to be said about Cyndi Lauper and Devo.

Update!

I've got my Character models, three Priest-y looking folks that should be properly decked out to become Liches in no time.

I just placed a 200 dollar order. @_@ With the WarStore, part of which includes the Men at Arms I'm going to convert into Swiss Guard or cut my fingers severely trying.

I've got more paints, my conversion tools, and all kinds of fun stuff. Should ship tomorrow. :D

OH, one small note. Those Cherubs I ordered are so freakin' tiny....I'm gonna haveta use em for Tomb Swarms. I need new ideas for Carrion now. =/

But! My total list of models now includes:

Three character models
Twenty Tomb Guard
60 Skeleton warriors
One(Maybe two) Bases of Tomb Swarms.

I'm going to get a Trebuchet, and something to pose as the Casket next month, after I work on these for a while.

I'm going to ordering those choir Boy models around the same time as well. I want them! >_< Darn West Wind not servicing APO addresses.

But, yes. Once my stuffs gets here, you'll start seeing some picture updates.

Sorry to hear the cherubs are so small but they look like they would make great swarms anyway.

I have a suggestion as to a casket of souls for you that would continue the church/papal theme you are looking for

fen45f06f87e1117FM084.jpg

http://www.fenryll.com/en/category-13.html

I picked one up myself on e-bay for the same reason and it is a really nice model - much better than the picture from Fenryll suggests. It is cast is grey resin so it has heaps of detail and is easy to convert.

You get the organist with the model but he is a seperate figure, not attached to the main part of the organ.

Oooooh. That's pretty. o.o I like it! :D

Helluva find, count! You shall be Forever (At least until you try to kill me) counted among my Allies and friends!

I'll pick that up next month.

That is a great model, and would fit in great with your theme Onikaigo. I'm looking forward to seeing some pics when you get all these models through and painted.

I've got the first ones in the mail, DoN. I'm gonna be working on converting my Cherubs to Swarms here today, if at all possible. I forgot to order a Saw, though. >_< I tried to use my clippers instead to remove the base to one of the character models I have...

now he's missing his feet. ;;>>

But, I'm able to get the ball rolling at least a little bit. I tore apart the Bat Swarms I had because ...well...They're bat swarms. So I have 4 swarm bases to put my little Angels on, so I've got plenty of modification room. Need to pit up some styrofoam to make rocks and such. It'll work out.

Soon, I can begin! Muahahaha!

Double post, so sue me. =)

My stuffs has arrived! I can start working on my Twenty man Tomb Guard regiment soon-ish, and that makes me happy. I've got my Hobby knife, drill, paints, WASHES!!! Yey. Tomb kings book, and other miscellaneous things I've been needing. Now, all I need is something like styro-foam that I can use to model my pews, scenery and such for my larger bases.

And the pews. Not giving up on that idea.

So, yes. Whenever I actually get around to building these peoples, I'm gonna start taking WIP picks. I'll start with the Command group, I think.

Now, onto History and relative accuracy and whatnot. Since TG use Sword and Board on the tabletop, and the Swiss Guard use Guisarmes or a two handed Flamberge, how should I model this? I still want this army to be WYSIWYG after a fashion, so I don't want it to be too off the wall.

Perhaps I can model the first two ranks as they should be, then the rest as the *flips coin for Flamberge/Guisarme choice*? But that breaks unit coherency, in my opinion. Any ideas?

Edit: If at all possible, they're going to look like this.
Swiss Guard

I've got ideas on how to do just about everything there, including the crests and wide collars. Just the weapons, what weapons to use? =O

Hi there Oni,

I think it should work out nice with the pews :)
my local hobby stores have the "racks 'o woodstrips" varying from 2mm*2mm woodstrips to 10*10mm woodstrips. (and the same for the plastic versions)
Pews should be really easy to make using those strips.
the models on em would be a lot harder to convert (like 20 times the same thing :P)

also, the swiss guard :wow2: good luck modelling those!

now you have my attention, i will follow your works from the shadows!

I've actually gotten started! Oh your god! :D

No pictures yet, those will come in the morning after PT.

But, what I've got done/Started and will be nearly done bulding tonight:

Bases for my Tomb Swarms, which I've decided to make as ornamental as the table that holds the sacramental wines and crackers, which will look suspiciously like the table that holds the sacramental wine and crackers. I've got to lay a sheet of Green stuff over the rame I've built, then the basic idea will be presented in picture form in the morning.

I've started working on poses for two of my Tomb Guard guys. I hate modiying poses, but I really want these guys to be at full attention, marching forward in unison, and sorry to say it, Empire Militia just don't look too terribly disciplined. Work to be done? GS helmets, finish shaving off different accoutrements that came with them, and other odd details.

I've also begun work on the Standard bearer, incidentally, for the Tomb Guard unit. If I can somehow pull it off, I'm going to be using this regimental standard replicated as closely as possible.Link

The first flag, if people were wondering. Awfully detailed though, I'll see what I can do when I can press myself to pull out the fine detail brushes.

But yes, I'm excited. Progress is being made!

Now, is that GS dry? Hrm...yes. Back to work.
