So I'm half way now through the Terrorgheist, but nothing interesting to show yet.

I've also cut the Skeleton legs off a black knight, so I can still use the Barding. And made a start on my Vampire Lord conversion!

I'm in two minds as to whether I should fill the corrosion in the barding in or not.

And yeah, I'm aware Vamp. Lords can't be on Skeletal Steeds, but I'll ALWAYS be running him with Black Knights, so this way he fits in much better (plus I don't need to go searching for another horse model... ;) )

Anyway, anyone got any opinions so far? I'm thinking of perhaps adding a cape, but I'm not too sure...

Nothing wrong with a bit of corrosion on your best riding steed, if said steed happens to be entering it's 3rd eon of servitude :konrad:

As for the cape? It could work, I could see a lot of things working. But it really matters what you want the composition to look like in the end; With a cape I imagine it would be amazing if it were fluttering high, and very tattered, rather than at rest, which would make the back of the model almost bulky, but kinda air-y? It'd also depend on the unit you plan to house him with, since you won't want to make the models rank up funny, although I could use an easy unit filler being used to provide him a reliable "Space" behind him open for his model to spill over into (Where as forward you can't always know your opponents model will rank up with him in the front).

I really like capes personally, but there are other ideas you could go with, like a trophy-collection type thing, random heads/skulls hanging from his horse or back, or even a spike with impaled heads/body? Or you could leave the back area more bare and make the focal point more towards his weapon, since the Steed itself already is quite active back/low. So a high/front facing weapon could balance against that (Like a typical spear, but with more pizazz).

But then again, I wouldn't listen to anything I say, because honestly I have no idea what I am talking about! :pumpkin:

Inspiring work so far. I can't wait to see the final package.

You just gave me a few ideas for a mounted WK BSB and a mounted Vampire BSB using a similar plan.

Oh, I just realized, are you going to be able to have one of the Vampire's hands holding the reigns of the horse? I just noticed they aren't completely cut off, so I was curious what you were planning to do with that :pumpkin:

Cheers man! So I gave all my GS work a black wash, just to make sure I'm happy with all the textures (since it's sometimes hard to tell properly) and I am, so I'm waiting for some more superglue, then his head's getting pinned on.

In the mean time, I'm working on his BK unit. Got one fully done, and another half done. I'll get some pics up after my exam tomorrow!

I forget, have you told us what head is going on him yet? I love seeing a giant crazy beard on a vampire knight, if you're looking for suggestions.

So, my exam yesterday was just... urgh. The exam board lost/leaked the paper, sent out a replacement last minute. Which tested us on stuff that wasn't on the syllabus -.- Ah well! Here's a Black Knight :D

It's screaming skull (takes 2 thin coats over black), then aggrax earthshade:water 1:2 wash, and do two washes of that. Other option is just one wash of earthshade, but I prefer the control of the watered down one. Then I highlight up with screaming skull very lightly again. Pretty easy bone :)

Here's a shot of the unit WIP as it currently stands:

And my further highlights on the cloak:

And the reason I have got nothing done recently:

last exam tomorrow, then freedom :D
