When you were young, you probably, at some point, harboured a burning desire to become an astronaut. Possibly you still do. This rather entertaining game, still in the reasonably early stages of development, allows you to build and fly your own completely modular rockets. You can even make a visit to the moon!

It's currently free, and can be found here http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/ , though I'd advise using the download link in the support thread for if you have download problems. The main link has a distressing habit of cutting out at random points during the download and forcing you to delete it and start again. Depending on your method, it may be either very easy or very hard (well, it's never VERY easy, even just to get into orbit, but...) and you can have some very entertaining explosions if you build wrong, or just plain crash.

I'm reasonably pleased that I managed to get into orbit around the planet on only my second flight, including the tutorial ship/flight. If you manage to reach the moon and return on your first or second flight ever, I will probably fall down at your feet and worship. But whatever you do, try it out, you might well enjoy it!

My laptop has recently had a seizure, so I'm currently using an electronic item from the dark ages.
ergo, I don't think it could manage such a program.
But it is definitely something I will try when I can.

Bahahhahaha! This game is hilarious!

I tried to launch the rocket, and half of the ship just fell off, then I went onto the next stage and some weak thruster launched, overheated, then I crashed. I didn't even leave the landing stage. Ahahahahahah! :rofl2:

EDIT: Did it again. Brilliant!

EDIT: So close to space, then I began to fall.... ha ha ha.

Yep, my latest rocket, I discovered, overheats so much that you have to jettison the boosters early or they blow up, setting off the liquid fuel tanks but (and here's the great thing), if you jettison them early they smash into the main liquid fuel tanks and blow them up. I was trying to reach the moon, I didn't even get that far above the launch pad...

Man this is a good game. Still unsure whether stage 0 in construction means it goes first or last, but meh, it seems to work.

EDIT: Worked that out, then did really well... until I realised I wasn't headed for the moon, but the Sun. Oh dear...
