That's a phenomenal armies on display board. Love the icicles. Your blood knights are an inspiration, sir. Nice work representing the female knights, they're not seen enough in general, I think. Keep up the great work!

Hello everypony! It's time for another wonderful update!

I started building the finecast blood knights I have had lying around for a while. I decided to mix the finecast parts with metal ones left over from the other knights. Here is one of the Blood Knights, nothing too exciting, just a standard Blood Knight with cracked ice made form GS.

And here is another fabulous female! I used another head from the Coven Throne kit. I decided to keep the rose in her hair because I wanted her to look characterful and pretty. This one is also a mixture of finecast and metal parts, but mostly metal, and the head is obviously plastic. I sculpted a neck for her like the other ones. Also I pinned the pony's front left hoof to the base for extra stability and strength, because I felt that the finecast half would start to sag due to the metal side being heavier.

Here is someone who isn't quite so pretty (especially since he's now dead in the story thanks to Arkhan the Black) Heinrich Kemmler. Nothing too exciting here, but I re-did his base with greenstuff and pinned him to it because he was just superglued to the base when I got him off ebay.

And now, le Morghasts. Both of their bases are now DONE! Once I have finished building all the other models I want to build at the moment I will prime these up (since I like to prime models in batches) and start making them look fabulous like my other models, but until then they'll be sitting around feeling rather left out.

Mini-update. Managed to find some second-hand metal Blood Knights on ebay. Made a deal with the seller because one of the models was damaged, got them for an absolute bargain. So when I get those around Friday I'll be taking them apart, removing their bases and immersing them all in Dettol overnight to strip the paint off, then it's on to rebuilding them!

Today or tomorrow I will be priming the models I have built atm, so stay tuned as I get on to painting them!

Last bit of background for my army:

The Aspects of Death

THE ASPECT OF DECAY

View attachment 12697

The Knights of the Aspect of Decay are a decadent, gloomy lot. They desire only to exist eternally and watch the world turn to dust around them, having long ago abandoned their claims to honour. They revel in their undead state more so than any of the other Aspects, feeling no love for the world of the living and all its treachery and complexity. To them there is but one simple rule: do as you will. Preferring not to engage in battle, or in trivial, petty politics or squabbling, they are very much unlike the other Knights of Death, who are mostly moribund and fatalistic warriors who seek honour and the fulfilment of the Quest.

Viktor originally created the Aspect of Decay with one guiding tenet: “Through victory comes the end of all things, and so the endless age of decay begins.” With this in mind he established the Aspect to represent the inevitable death and decay of all mortal things, inspired by the passage of time and its effect on the world. Yet in his negligence the Aspect has grown decadent, though not weak; the Knights of Decay, though they love nothing more than to indulge their wildest fantasies upon each other and upon the mortals of the world, also love the taste of battle and the thrill of the charge, exulting in glorious victory afterward, or finding their deaths at the hands of their enemies, delighting in the slaughter they carry out and often taking prisoners that they may torture, corrupt or feed upon.

Yet, as with all the Knights, they are tragically tortured and in suffering for, at the heart of all their decadence, there lies a great apathy, a great emptiness that eats away at them inside. They can find no permanent satisfaction in anything they do, living only for the moment and caring not for anything else in an attempt to run away from the pain that haunts them. To this end they live as vitally and thoroughly as they can, exhorting themselves to greater feats of decadent splendour, holding masquerade balls, orgies of bloodletting and sexual ecstasy to fill their minds with nothing but the purest carnal pleasure.

Their attitudes are so incongruous with the other Aspects that it is a wonder why they even follow Viktor at all, especially considering that they revel in and enjoy the trappings of mortality so greatly. The truth is that they follow Viktor because, within each of them, the Knights of Decay are sorrowful, tormented and in great pain. They seek one thing more than anything – love – yet they know they cannot have it for they have lost the very thing that would allow them to fulfil their greatest desire – their mortal lives. That passionate drive that once motivated them, the fear that their lives hung in the balance, is now lost to them. As such their greatest source of pleasure is battle, for it reinvigorates their dead hearts with a semblance of life. Yet they know, ultimately, that this cycle cannot last. They know that the only escape from their pain is death, and so they throw themselves into the most dangerous of engagements, consume the deadliest of narcotics and poisons in vain attempts at pleasurable suicide; all of it is in vain, for they cannot die, especially since their souls are bound to Nagash’s will, a master who knows no compassion, who knows nothing of love or torment, only the purity of his megalomania, and the Knights of Decay are the most loath to serve him, wishing for a way to break free yet knowing it to be impossible – their only hope is to fight on, to eradicate the living and become of no more use to their uncaring master.

Of all the Aspects the Knights of Decay are by far the most motley and non-uniform. Some clad themselves in highly polished armour painted with various decadent lacquers, while others forsake beauty when riding to war and clad themselves in ancient, decayed suits of plate armour that are rusted or covered in grime.

The Scourge of Decay, Markus Komnenos, is an enigma to all save a select few. A silent and reserved character, he keeps himself separate from the others of his kind, dwelling in a hidden sanctuary within the Necropolis where his one love dwells, until called to battle by the Grand Marshall.

@TheTrans, you're going to have to elaborate some on that if you are to be constructive about it, although I have a feeling that this is mostly about your previous row in your painting log. So please, stop the bickering here and take it to PM's if you have to, but otherwise leave the thread for constructive criticism only.

Alas good sir I was being constructive, I just thought that Markus Komnenos could use a little more fleshing out of his character given given his high status as opposed to the generic 'silent enigma' style approach :).

Then you should have put it that way in your first post, but we'll drop this here and let the thread go back to what it was originally for.
