"Krell, I command your host arise and slake its thirst" -Count Vorri Von Rapt

  • The masquerade of murder returns! A new game of Vampires Amongst Us has begun. Unmask the killers, trust no one, and try to survive the night. Find out more and sign up now!
I should get my hands on the new Krell too. The model is way too cool to not have it. Borgnine's tip are cool, you could combine ours  A stone sarcophagus with a corpse in it. To combine our suggestions, the sarcophagus is either wider or longer than the base. When it's wider, one or two GG can stand on the remains of the destroyed side, while Krell is standing on the extant part of it, standing slightly higher than the rest. Or like Borgnine suggested, you build it longer and place him more ahead of the unit.

I like sarcophagi. xD

Have an update on some WIP for you guys. I skipped the gym to get some time spent on these guys. Firstly a WIP of my GG and Krell!

@Borgnine I've changed the base to stacked marauder shields! Epic idea man looks great!

Then how about these Skele's? Liking the pose?

I intend to mix Skele's with normal GG bodies to act as long dead/semi armoured marauders. I will try to throw in as many marauder shoulder pads as well. I hesitate to say I will try to get some warrior helms on them, not sure how that will look just yet.

Thoughts!?

Epic skellies! They look better with those spears and shields than original chaos warriors using them xD Regarding their helmets - I don't see why not. I'm not sure about the GG bodies, but on skellies they should look plenty fine, skellies already have helmets.

Also, Krell looks good there, like a proper chieftain. I'm only worried about his axe - it's HUEG - won't he bump into the other warriors? But even if - he always can go into the corner of the unit ^^'

I'm waiting to see bigger units :)

Well done with the posing mate, some of the best skellie posing I've seen! Can't wait to see the unit... And ditto on the grave guard paint job, really helps connect the GG heads to the chaos warrior bodies. And Krell has never looked so intimidating!

Appreciate the feedback guys! Here's a little update!

The Skele unit is taking shape:

And the Lord of Undeath himself minus his axe.... Krell! (My phone pictures have really not captured him very well.. may have to wash him down to smooth out my drybrush.)

I have a few more things to do on Krell. I wanted a purple tinged to his armour to represent a Khornate frenzied aura. Namely to differentiate him from his GG.

CC much appreciated, still have a long way to go on Krell and hopefully some decent pictures!

Thanks Vorri!

Really cool theme for an army, and you've pulled it off well. Really digging the poses on the skeletons especially!

Evening all,

Thought I would put up a group shot of my different units so far. Just to catch the theme as whole. I don't think they look too out of place.
Some may notice a new unit at the back there!

Don't worry I got some close up on the WIP:
*I did have to butcher my Knights but I think this is worth it. Given the Kit I can still put together my Hex Knights too!

Good work! I really like all the conversions and skellies are badass!

I also have to add that the blue eyes on the warriors are a good choice. Without them they are too red-brown in my opinion and the blue accent and the third color adds very much to them. Good job! Looking forward to more ;)

Your army is an inspiration. I'm stealing ideas for the "Krell's Children" painting challenge, which I'm assuming you got off the ground. I want to see this thing finished! Great work.

Thank you all for the kind comments. It is turning out better than I thought. Have to love kit-bashes! :suck:

Small update on my Black(Red) Knights:

Forgot the horns! Think the unit will look pretty good as a whole!

On an aside I only went and broke Krell's axe. I've had to play around with that for a different pose now. Hope to finish him soon.

Thanks,

Wow, I guess I never realized how monstrous those Chaos Knight horses are. Or is it just that the Black Knights are tiny? Yeesh. Need to see 'em next to some Empire Knights to know for sure.

@Borgnine Thanks man! I laugh when I hear the word conversion as the skellies were the easiest. A slight snip of the arm socket joint and re-position, then just lobbing on a chaos shield. Came out well though ;)

I agree with the warriors, I've only finished one in the front rank so I still need to lighten/blue the reaming cloaks. As well as finish the shields/Armour lining.

Corpse cart is on the way next.

@benvoliothefirst, Thanks Ben! "Krell's Children" painting challenge, I have no idea what this is? Do you have a link?

The knights horses are pretty chunky. At first I tried trimming down some of the armour, so I could then place over the black knights horse armour. Needless to say it didn't fit! For the bodies I kept the chaos knights as the ratios would not have worked.

Thanks for your inspiration!

@Theerteen, thanks buddie! I'm hoping that once I have them all painted they are going to look even better! Really want to find some sort of ethereal foggy base now!

Appreciate I'm in your top 10! Spurring me to finish more!

Maybe the skeletons were easy, but the effect is wonderful. There is a value in the [effect]/[amount of work] quotient ^^

I like your work on the black.. red knights. They look awesome and the whole army has a nice feel to it ;)

Now I'm curious how you would do Blood Knights, after those mean, red guys - should you need them one day :)

Oh, and I also thought about you when I saw the painting challenge - see on the link below:

I assume nobody told you about it because they all realize that if you enter, no one else has a chance of winning!

Keep up the great work!

Hi everyone,

I have some modelling and conversion updates for you all!

Without further ado! May I introduce....... Count Vorri Von Rapt!

Not forgetting his faithful raiser of the dead "Namelesssss"....

*I've since changed the head positioning so I can have him side on.

Oh yeah and I had a little play around with my corpse cart aswell...

C & C welcome!

Thanks,

Vorri

I love your vampire conversion.

I can't wait to see this army when it's all finished, I bet it will look outstanding!

@Borgnine, Thanks for the comments Borgnine! I have to say I didn't think I would get much or a response on my conversions I've really not gone all out on them!

I think given the chaos armour, and squeezing them onto a 20mm base makes them fit in as undead... just. I'll have to come up with an alternate paint scheme I think to differentiate them.

As for the corpse cart, I had a few dogs spare, chopped up some marauder flails and hey presto, complete.

@Blutsauger, Honestly not many! Both are WoC character kits.

For the count I used the chaos lord, trimmed down his 25mm base to fit on a 20mm. and used a different head. Now the head itself is actually an old ungor with his horns trimmed down, a little trim on the cheek bones and ears, and surprisingly he comes out looking quite Vampy!

Same with the Necromancer, an old trimmed ungor head. Swapped the staff top for half a skele, and some chains, placed a flagellant book in is upright palm, and stuck him on a trebuchet rock for height!

@Kutslo, Thanks for the enthusiasm Kutslo! Hopefully I will be able to dedicate some more time to the little buggers soon!

@Theerteen, Thanks man! All parts are GW! -Gotta love having a bits box!
