Also, if his challenge is refused by some N00B player or a player fearful of losing a character to Krell, and if this is a combat involving multiple units, Krell could still kill a monster and use his HKB without actually being in a challenge. This is a way of "getting around" Krell's challenge rule.

Is that true? The wording is "If Krell is fighting a challenge whilst in the same unit as Heinrich Kemmler, he has the Heroic Killing Blow special rule". Are you still fighting a challenge if your opponent refuses the challenge?
