Greetings! I have been away from these halls for far too long. I hope to be more active in the future.

Here is the list I am currently playing around with.

My local meta is a mixed bag with representation from most factions and some very competitive minded players. The toughest list I have seen are both LRL: one a Teclis castle, the other features stoneguard and battle cows.

I have played a few games with it. My usual battle tactics are eye for an eye, gaining momentum, this one is mine, desecrate, and callous overlords. I can reasonably score 4/5 in most games.

I still struggle hard with LRL.

Sadly everyone struggles against Lumineth at the moment but you have done the right thing and built a fast list. One suggestion would be to run the list as Legion of Night to get better saves vs shooting the first turn.

I did consider LoN but the VLoZD needs the LoB command trait and artifact to do what he needs to do.

It is really the Helon/Teclis combo that gives me fits.

Yes, primarily a pinning piece but also the means to score "this one is mine".

His damage is a bit swingy but he's the best option IMO.

If you want to increase his damage output you could switch his spell to Flaming Weapon.

How many points do you have left over? Because you could switch the VLoZD for Prince Vhordrai, his damage output is better.

I only have 30 points left over, so not quite enough for Vhordrai sadly.

Flaming weapon is worth consideration but I like the extra movement to get past screens to kill support characters.

I will have to experiment with flaming weapon to see if I miss the extra movement or not.

What do you use the cogs for? Rerolls to charge?

Honestly, cogs is the swing piece in the list. If I had to cut something, cogs would be the choice.

I initially use cogs to give my casters re-rolls. I use Belladamma to cast cogs with her native +1 to cast for a ~83% of success.

Dark Mist is such a critical spell to make the BKs a viable pinning threat.

If it stays on the table, I pivot to re-roll charges to get the BKs into contact.

I have mulled over tweaking the list to drop the cogs to include Vhordrai but I believe him to be less survivable than the LoB build and I would lose the customization options since the rest of the characters are each unique.

All of your points are useful thought exercises and I appreciate the different perspective!

I am 2-2 with this build with the 2 losses coming from LRL. The wins have been vs SCE and Ogors.

Another thought excersise: what about pivoting into Vyrkos? Then you will get rerolls to casting from the subfaction and you can give your VLoZD a bubble of reroll charges with Overpowering Deathstench and you can give it Sangsyron to make up for the loss of Martial.

Personally I would stick with Legion of Blood, but it is something to consider.

Hmmm...Vyrkos does have some tempting choices but, like you said, I think LoB is the way to go with this build.

I am not sure what I could tweak to get this into a one drop.

A one drop would be ideal as most LRL and some other hard core tournament lists utilize the one-drop.

At least a one drop would give me an even chance to take T1 priority in matches where it matters.

LRL typically goes first and puts all their buffs up and then dominates magic, shoot, shoot, and then shoot some more.

I'm not salty...

I am excited to see what our new book brings and I hope it is on par with the power of the more recent battle tomes.

I think it is completely fair to be salty about LRL at the moment. I think the helon castle will be nerfed - if we are to believe what they said in the last Metawatch video. And yeah, I have stopped list building in anticipation of the new SBG book. My intuition tells me it is gonna be real good But I am a dreamer at heart
