I would also like to start in June due to exams. I don´t have as much as Darvy but I still got some stuff to do. (And my parrents are killint me if I don´t spend enough time on my studying :lol: )
Ill start on my bases tomorrow. If we start somewhere in may I can have most of those assembled with what I have and some orders will be in. My preference would be middle to the end of may.

This sounds great! i would love to do it but I can not afford the models I need for an army, my current forces are many goblins from battle of skull pass pretending to be ghouls or Black guard of Naggarond. 
I also dont have the time with uni coming to an end. I have many pots to make (studying ceramics). I shall do it next time though

If this competition will be start in June so for me is too late but in my opinion it's very good idea! I'm already in painting my army (when it will be over then will be photos). Already i've to paint 2xVarghulfs (one of them will be done in this weekend), many Skellies(70/90? - 30 from 7th ed, 30 from 5th ed and many from 6th and many of them is clear), many characters, Blood Knights from Gamezone and Chaos Knights so will be converted to Blood Knights also. Oh! one Corpse Cat and thats all from clear minis... many minis (Varg, metal Grave Guards, Black Coach, 13 form 80 Ghouls left and BSB, 2 Vampires + 1 Vamp on Hellsteed) have painting started and actually i've to finnish'em in next 3/4 weeks (all of them). In May i will paint some minis from over "clear" list and to June i did not have 2,5k pts to paint... i've motivation and spend many hours a week near paints and brushes
and also my painting speed is near by speed of turtle

If most of the people here wanna start May 1st than I most certainly cant do 2250. No way, No how. Unless you all give me beastmen figurines

Any chance of some official moderation on this? I think there's a definite list of people who are in, but we need some direction. I think it's a great idea. No reason it couldn't be done in a few batches. Get some running on May 1st, then start some others off later on... That would give those who either don't have the models or the time at the moment time to gear up. Excluding anyone kind of goes against what this site's all about and anyone up for it and who's serious should be given a fair crack at it.

What I am doing now is called gaining a consensus of who is anxious to undertake this journey with me. So relax, I'm looking to include as many of you poor souls in this as I possibly can.
In my realm of sports, specifically track and field, we run things in heats. My idea, before I was doubted, was to run groups at different times based on their point values. On May 1st, we could have those who want to paint 2250 or more, and weeks later start those with fewer points and so forth.
Or we could have people pledge amounts, start them with their forces, and have an overall deadline when they should have them done. I'm not looking to exclude anyone out of this. If I was going for that, then I simply wouldn't start this thread up - we're all here to have fun!
Here's my proposal:
Overall deadline is October 1st. This should give everyone a decent shot at completing this.
May 1st: 2,250 points and above will start. If we have people who are in this point realm, but can't make it, they can start in the next heat.
June 1st: 0-2,249 points start at this mark. From here on out, we're all on the same mark to finish by October 1st. If you weren't able to make it to the May 1st start, this is where you'll be starting from.
How does this sound?
If I get enough agreement on this, I'll begin the actual signup and pledge form.
Oh and for good measure, here's what I'm looking at:
1 Level 4 MoT Sorceror on Disk
60 WoC, MoT
50 Marauders
10 Knights
2 Chariots
3 Dragon Ogres
1 Hellcannon

I will start on may 1st with 2500 pts (a mixture of tau, Imperial guard and VC, will post up the overall list later today)
Common sense (21 exams) + practicality (nothing but a poor camera-phone to take pictures with) compel me to drop out of this one. I will paint my stuff, just, well, not with you guys and not quite as quickly. I'll watch with interest (if I'm not a zombie come june) but I simply cannot participate.

A couple options actually, I've started with a mantic undead army, but also have quite a few chaos models and could easily come up with 2500pts from either category, so I guess what I'm asking is, what would people prefer to see?
May 1st would work perfectly as I'm done exams on the 26th of April (sorry CD, 21 seems like an entirely ungodly number of exams for any one person, good luck!).

@the Underlord, I think you should paint the models you like to get finished the most. I am going to finish my beastmen before I buy the new Tomb kings.
