So, the last couple of days I have heard some people say that they don't think Bloodknights are any good. The argument seems to be that they lost their retreat and charge and increased in points.

This is a bit surprising to me as I love their new warscroll. Their increase in range and rend is super important for me as they can now fight in units of 10 and punch through armour.

What are your opinion on them and why?

After getting curb stomped by Sons of Behemet Friday, they are growing on me. We need one or two hard-hitting units in a list, and blood knights/grave guard are the staples to fill that role. VLOZD is great, but there are points where he just can't do enough damage. Those two units will ALWAYS do enough damage.

Also, blood knights have a nice trick in just about every subfaction. In Blood, you can crank them to a 2+ save ignoring rend. They are literally made for Kastelai. In Vyrkos, they get Belladamma's spell buff and pair well with any hero attacking.

I personally like how they have changed the Blood Knights.
First because now we can Trample 3 or less wounds units even with Mounts!
Second, we can now Trample in the charge and in the pile-in (the later being a bit of a shit move). Which make it easier to reach a desired unit that was screened cheaply.
Third, now they have -2 rend, witch I feel is making a drastic change on the damage dealt on units with high Save.

This three points combine speak to me a lot lore wise. Blood Knights are heavy elite cavalry that will run over unworthy units to hit and dent severely an elite enemy unit.
Last Battle Tome was making us use the BK as a low tear unit killer that is constantly charging and retreating from battle lines, like cawards I think the new warscroll abilitie is spon on and are the BK aRE pulling their weight on the table, points wise and damage dealing wise

They do decent damage when they don't charge as well and with Neffy's Dark Mist they turn into an absolute tank.

well, yes... but then we're talking about a specific combo, which tells a lot about the power of that particular spell.

That said, i'm not sure the points investment for a 10 knights unit is a better idea than 2x5

I think the Blood Knights are good without Red Mist as a hammer. Their damage output is insane.

Regarding whether to run them 1x10 or 2x5 I still need more playtesting. It is a big drawback to have such a large footprint but you also gain so much by putting them all in one unit.

This is one of the things they nerfed isn't it? That they can't trample as a pile in now?

My only gripe with them is their huge footprint and even with 2" range it is a struggle to get all 10 in.
They also nerfed Nefy's spell. So are they still great?
