Fires like a cannon
24" range roll an artillery then place the flame template. Everything under takes a s5 flaming with multi wound D3

Doesn't the flame cannon do the same thing but with a 12" range + artillery die?

I believe that the flamecannon is simply only the artillery dice. No extra range. It does have multiple wounds D3 but with maybe getting 1 shot off it's just not worth the points.

They still have Cannons, Bolt Throwers, Grudge Throwers, Organ Guns, Fantastic magic defence, Pretty awesome Lords, and Slayer heroes which are amazing! losing the flame cannon isn't going to make any Dwarf player to terribly upset.

Yes and no, Dwarfs can be handled if you have the right tools, but in an all comers list it gets a little sticky. I started off with dwarfs in 7th ed and they were super fun to play, but now all you're ever going to see is a gun line, which IMO is not very fun to play with or against.

Well I think they can be good, just like any other army out there. However I think where Dwarfs have their biggest fault is that their entire killing power is in an artillery dice, which misfires often, and kills their stuff. They can make a pretty solid list on paper but there are just too many variables in game for them to consistently win with the same list. I've had 2 organ guns blast a 30 man unit of GG with 3 wightkings and my VL in the unit down to 2 GG and my 4 characters. I then charged and brought a 30 man block of ironbreakers down to the champ and the lord but my point is that they have plenty of killing potential, it will just never be as consistent as they need it to be.

I can speak for Bretonnia, since that's my other primary army.

The biggest thing you need to worry about there is Heroic Killing Blow on their lord. HKB kills anything on a 6, with only ward saves allowed, no regen.

And Bretonnia can take 2 HKB characters (you don't see it often, but it can happen).

Yeah, a good HKB lord can absolutely punish monstrous infantry or cavalry, since the entire model is removed. And that counts all the wounds as combat res, which hits us hard.

Ok, so this is probably a nooby question but it just popped into my head. So I know that if a mounted character loses all of his wounds then his mount is also removed (unless it's a monster of course) but heroic killing blow removes all wounds from the model period correct? If that is true then would the 1 wound on the standard mount (like a nightmare) count towards CR also if the model was HKB'd? I would assume not simply because the mount cannot be targeted and its wound is more for show than anything.

In normal cases you use the rider's wounds and for monsterous cavalry you use the highest wounds out of either the rider or mount, so in short you add only whichever has the most wounds out of the two :P not both to the combat res

Hellheart isn't broken, our local Ogre player has stopped using it because it never really did anything. Johnny is right about the randomness too.

@ Nightreaver: Hmm don't know why you don't think that VC is top-tier... I know I'm top tier, but maybe that's just due to my epic gaming skills lol :P

Only active OK player in my area always runs the Gutstar (something else to watch out for) and sits the Hellheart right inside it.

Lets just say he has never missed with it.

Guess if I ran attrition lists it wouldn't be such a big deal, but I tend to run bus lists. Just love watching my knightbus disintegrate and lose all my power dice for the phase.

Well I see it being a touch more devistating to VC than any other army out there (well maybe TK) but all in all our general is required to be a caster, and our army needs to be a bit more clumped together than others due to IoN bubble and the march bubble. So not even in a deathstar list all of our characters tend to be within 12"-24" of eachother.

A good combo for Bretonnian lords is this:

Virtue of Heroism, heartwood lance, tress of isoulde

Hits on 2+ regardless of modifiers (single round of combat) re-roll failed wounds HKB. I've used it to kill nurgle dp, hpa and slaughter masters with glittering scales.

Broken? Probably not but when he kills a dragon and then runs down a dreadlord with PoK, it sure is funny :)

I've had many bad experiences with the hellheart. My main army is Bretonnia, losing 2 units of knights when it goes off makes me sad.
