Hi,
I explained my idea with another account of which I forgot logins.

I am Romanian born so I had the idea of doing my VC army with Transilvanian heraldics and other stuff.

Besides that idea the other idea is that a VC army skeletons and other dead units should be made by dead units from another armies, therefore my Grave Guard will be composed by Chaos Warriors, my cavalry will be composed by dead Lizardmen and Wood Elves light cavalry killed(parts of the mount and the rider replaced by bones or dead flesh).

Obviously that is the basic dead units, the rest will be made by proper miniatures, however even if this isn't the proper area I would like to ask if is it possible to play this army without the gigantic miniatures as the Mortis Engine or Coven Throne.

Now a few pictures of how my army is currently looking. Note that for the basic zombies and skeletons I plan to have tons of rising bodies cause I consider desproportionate the need to buy tons of skeletons and zombies cause they cost a shit of points.

PS: As you can see my painting skills are decent but not amazing, same with my sculpting ones, but after 9 years without a brush that is what normally happens.

PS2: I will keep a log to show my progress. Probably by August I will buy the Lizardmen cavalry box and start modeling them.

Ooh, nice and bright shields! Also pretty creative to use chaos warriors as grave guard. I can't say I've seen it before!

You're off to a great start. I see some awesome conversions already, can't wait to see what you do with the cavalry. Where does the grave guard musician's "drum set" come from? Is that a chaos bit?

Not sure about the validity of using your army without big stuff like the mortis engine. Probably depends on the size of the game you're playing but I'll let the strategists on this site tell you about that stuff. I'm just a painter so far!

I love all the mantic stuff you've used, looks great.

I think the shields might need something else to unify them... maybe some rust or damage around the edges, just to make them look older and worn. As it is now they look like they're being meticulously repaired and repainted after each battle.

Regarding the drummer, no fucking idea. I had bits 8 years old including the chaos warriors and that was used to do that.

I know what you mean about the shields, everything looks kind of old shitty and those shinny shields. However I don't remember/know how to tear them so they look older...

I don't like the Mantic zombies positions and union between legs and body but they are far cheaper and the rest of the zombies is really good.

Today I received my next part of the army. 300 20mm square bases and 18" of green stuff......

First try is gonna be 3 Wraiths.

The drum is from the warhammer command sprue, an old sprue that came with command parts for the old skeletons, clanrats and night goblins. Pretty hard to get by nowdays.

Regarding shield damage I could suggest gicing the edges a drybrush/stripple with a dark reddish brown followed by a drybrush/stripple with a metal paint. If done right it would make it look like the paint has chipped of around the edges to show rust/dirt/basecoat hidden beneath and sometimes even the bare metal. A tip is to have a very messy brush and actually quite a lot of paint in it, and sort of "stab" the edges with it. Also, try to make the first first drybrush/stripple of dark brown more severe than the second of metal.

Nice very creative. But im a bit perplexed cuz i cant see the hole army im affraid it will look a bit to diverse but im hoping you will prove me wrong.

That is kind of my point.

If this is a resurected dead army it should have diversity.

Therefore almost all my units will be other armies dead units.

It will be very diverse and that is what I kind of like.

A few updates, I got my first 5 wolves done.

And now my army is starting to look like one.

From a mantic box plus some leftovers I did 33 skeletons instead of the supposed 20. Seems that I won't be spending fuckloads of money.
