Visions of Doom - Cast on 7+

Wrath of the Damned - Cast on 6+

wich one are we casting on the one in the table or the one in the description

 My mistake, got the spells mixed up. Fixed.

It does seem like a nice magic list, but will people like to use it compared to necromancy? After all, there should be an extra spell to raise new (undead) models up, one that all casters know, so in a way like drain magic. The current first spell on necromancy could be used (with some tweaking, so that you can only heal special units and not make them bigger)

I'm just not happy at all with "the great awakening" spell in place now. Only D6 extra skellys or zombies wouldn't float my funeral barge. Make it 2D6 for core choices! And D3 for Rare!

Other then that, I like most of it. A few changes...

Visions of Doom (any chance of renaming it? Whispers of death appeals more to me):
So you take a Ld test on your un modified Ld (straight from the stat line), which is the most common Ld for the whole unit i.e. you don't get to use a characters Ld or the generals. You should not be allowed to re roll this if you fail.
I do think that skaven should still get their strenght in numbers rule, as they believe that as they killed nagash before, they can kill him again. It would fit the fluff...

Wrath of the damned: A good idea. An extra combat phase in the magic phase, but it should be more like the orcs and goblins spell on the "big waaagh" (which I forget the name of) that allowes you to fight a round of combat with no attacks back and no combat resolution. And if the enemy take 25% losses of their starting amount of models, they still have to panic.

Theres my two cents worth. Pick it apart for all it is.

Just to make it clear, the intention is that the Legion will not have access to the lore of Necromancy. A level 0 spell is an interesting idea though...

I would agree with you, except for the fact that the spell affects every undead unit under the players control. Raising 2d6 would be too powerful, especially if we add a level 0 spell.

I don't particularly want to mess with the core ld rules; you can use the generals and/or characters ld as normal (I don't believe there is anything, anywhere, that changes this, so why should this spell?). As for the skaven... we should not be making exceptions for one specific army; either all races use their base ld, ignoring normal rules for characters etc, or none do.

I like the proposed name change though.

This version was based on one of the TK incantations, which works slightly differently. What casting level is the Orc and Goblin one?

Done :P

Don't have my O&G army book with me right now, but I have a gut feeling that its about 9. It would be expensive to cast, but with results that good...

I suppose raising 2D6 on every undead core choice would be a bit mad... maybe somrthing like D6 + 2? (raising only one zombie might leave him fairly lonely, as he doesn't know any of the others...) I still say it should be D3 for Rare though.
[Any chance that I can get in on the ground floor for writing fluff about the nagash units and whatever else needs it? Suddenly I've gotten a lot better at it!]

Lets see...
Ah, I see your logic for treating skaven the same as everyone else. However I think that, in general, the Ld test should be on their base (unmodified) Ld, but maybe they should get to use the generals Ld.

I'm still pressing for a Lv 0 spell, something to raise undead units while still bolster living ones (maybe make them strike first or something else combat related?) I would think that a living unit that is within 6 inches of a freshly raised unit would have little fear of death, seeing as they would think that nagash could simply raise them back up again, so some kind of bonus would be a fair thing to put in this situation. Maybe being immune to psychology for a turn?

Thanks for disecting my comment so fast!

The issue here is that the lore is already fairly expensive to cast from, so we don't want another high casting value spell. As it currently stands, I favour the lower casting value, but less effective version.

Seeing as the only affected rare unit would be the spectral cavalry I'm inclined to leave it as is. Equally, I don't want to complicate the issue by making one unit affected more than the rest... why would the wizard focus his power on zombies rather than spreading it equally?

We shall see. Current priority is the list itself, then we can work on fluff, but once again as a group rather than an individual (although you could write a short story if you so wished)

So therefore it follows the normal rules for ld. No need to over complicate things by making it an exception.

The level 0 spell, if we include one, should be a basic summoning spell. Probably the same affect as the great awakening, but confined to one unit at a time.

Thats my job.

I see the logic in that, so I won't try to fight it

Once again, you seem to make too much sence.

Any chance that I can get in on the ground floor for writing fluff about the nagash units and whatever else needs it? Suddenly I've gotten a lot better at it!

I'll write up my Blood Dragon vampire history if that will do...

I agree with this, but it should also help the units that are "Alive!", although I am unsure how at the moment, but someone will fugure it out... eventually

The magic of the army favours the dead... Nagash is a necromancer after all!

Proposed 'level 0' spell...

Lesser Awakening, Casting value 4+
All spellcasters in the army of Nagash automatically have the spell 'Lesser Awakening'. When cast, this spell restores d6 wounds to any undead unit it is cast on. In the case of core units, this can create additional models above the number the unit started with, whereas in the case of special and rare units it can only bring the unit back to full strength. This can also heal undead characters, though it will not work if they are specifically within a unit unless there are excess 'healed wounds' to be passed on.

As for fluff... that is not our priority atm, but anything that is written would have to fit the army, so a Blood Dragon piece probably wouldn't be relevent...

Nicely put. I like the fact that you can still raise skellys!

I suppose I could stray from my vampire path, to make up some fluff for the army. I'll get started on fluff for the core choices if thats ok with you. The cultist have my mind ablaze with ideas...

I'm new to the forum and just caught sight of this, funnily enough I've been trying to create my own horde of nagash list.

Anyway I don't know if your spells are set in stone but one of the favourites I created was:

The Terror Inside (still undecided about the casting value)

The caster summons spirits to hinder and breakdown his foe, they whisper in to them bringing back old hidden fears, crumbling thier resolve and leaving them helpless.

Cast on one unit in 36" line of sight. The unit looses all psychological benefits i.e Immune to Psychology, Stubborn etc even if they are caused by magical items. They cannot benefit from the generals Ld or rerolls for Standard Bearer.Does not affect Daemons or models classed as undead.
Remains in Play

The idea behind this is that everyone is afraid of something at sometime or another even if they control or hide it and these harrasing spirits bring up old fears again.

An interesting idea for a spell, though I for one am currently happy with our current list; fitting a new spell into the list would be a little difficult (which would you suggest replacing?)

Oh, and welcome to the project.
