Games workshop says that end times is optional for 8th edition. one person can show up with an undead legions army and use it, with his 50% lords or whatever and the other player i fusing regular 8th edition either says no man i ain't playing you or just goes with the flow. I don't see it being a big deal.

Thats the same as saying: im playing 8th edition vanilla. so no AB's that came out afterwards..... and no faq....

Problem is that the game is not streamlined if its 'optional' resulting in a scenario where some1 brings an UL and gets turned down by some1 who refuses EndTimes rules.
Even though its a perfectly legal and valid list.
Youre the first one i see here saying its optional, opposite so many other stating that EndTimes is how warhammer now is and is supposed to be played.

The entire section for Undead Legion and those rules very clearly says these rules are for undead legion armies. It says nothing about errating the previous army books, it says the undead legion borrows units from those books and uses the army special rules in the Nagash book instead. The designer note clearly is referencing the absence of the general/heriophant dying from the undead legion army rules, same as the nehekharan undead designer note. So, if you want to use undead legion special rules, play undead legion. But the only part of the rules that modifies the army books is the morghasts, as they specifically state that they do. If slain general did, it would say ignore that rule in those army books, but it doesn't. It's saying that rule doesn't exist in undead legion.
