Hi there!

its not that im a cheap shot but i just wanted to know.
what kind of army can you best run with as few models 'as possible'. this is not a real must. but lets say, a 2500 point list with about 50 to 60 models. Im not talking ogre kingdoms.
more lke, big points in hero's and special/rare choices with low bodycount.

My main guess would be chaos,...
lord and heros on some flying things, being that they are able to handle their own in combat. filling up core with only chaos warriors, and big nastys for rare.

other army which migt be good would be lizardmen? I dont know them pointswise... but i guess they can do somewhat of the same trick.

what im looking for is to start a new army. only for modelling purposes, but i want to be able to play it. so far, ive converted some models but still cant get it all trough armywide. thats why id want a small army just to focus on this part of the hobby (but it needs to fit 2400)

so its not that im a cheapshot or anything. i dont want you guys to think bad things about me....

please help me out.
what are my options? (armylist wide,... modellingwise i will find my way)

My main army is wood elves, and they surely dont use alot of models at all. And they really do offer excellent opurtuneties for converting. In my regular 2500 pts army I use something along the lines of 70-80 models. WoC will be the ones with the lowest model count though, discounting ogres. I find that they are a little dull when it comes to converting though, since they are efficently tin cans.

Lemme see if I can remember what a WoC friend of mine fields. I think it's a Shaggoth, Chaos Giant (with the ASF Mark), and his Lord on a Chaos Dragon. 2 hordes of 60 Marauders, one block of 15 or 20 Warriors (I forget), a Chaos Chariot, a War Altar, a BSB, and a Sorceror at 2750.

So 3 big monsters, a couple chariot bases, and 3 infantry units. About as low a body count as you can get with such a high points battle.

Tomb Kings? Chariots for core, Warsphinxes/Sepulchar Stalkers/Necropolis Knights/Ushabti for special and all the rares are pretty bulky too.

A quick list for 2400pts:

Lords: 600
2 x Liche High Priest, Lvl 4,

Heroes: 360
1x Tomb Prince on a Warsphinx,

Minimum core: 605
10x Chariots, with full command and magic banner

Special: 540

1x Khemrian Warsphinx
6x Sepulchral Stalkers

Rare: 295

1x Hierotitan
1x Screaming Skull Catapult, with Skulls of the Foe

(Total 2400/2400)

This was a quick list that comes up with 22 models, and it could be made with even less, I think. (Edit: BTW You can use the full magic item allowance for chars, expect for the 2nd Liche Priest, who can get only 90pts worth of items.)

for some reason i totally forgot tomb kings and brettonnia...
I have both armys lying around. and my TK are even semi-low qty-model army. (kind of the list you have posted Raizi, but a little different) dont know how i managed to mis this 8-)
i also have some knight units for brets.
I guess i will be having to playtest bretts anytime soon (after i dust them off)
Really needing to complete some armys. i have 4 laying around with 3 of them for 75% finished. o the horror of painting all those units. so much fun.

sorry for this quite useless post and topic. thanks for your replies all.

Well do you want to be semi competitive?
Brets can be low but without the 60pt archer drops you can make huge blunders when placing your massive knight units. And if the issue is with regards to painting, I find brets can take a while to paint up. Horse + Rider.

Erm, I may be wrong, but should this thread not be in 'The Cattle' sub-forum, as 'Bloodlines' is for 'any Vampire Counts general discussion' whilst 'The Cattle' is for 'any other Fantasy Armies, and specialist games discussion'?

Any objection to me moving this?

EDIT:
