I like the models, although the sketches were far more epic. They could have done better minis after all. Still, they are good imo, for crypt horrors/ unit fillers / varghulfs. The painting is messed up I have to agree. The skin is to human in color. A little darker, more fur like tone, or some basic GS work might do wonders if executed properly.

I'm about to get a whole lot of flak for what I'm about to say and that's the reason I did it. I made my Vamp army for a GT last year and the whole purpose behind it was to piss people off real hard. The army was painted up with a nice royal blue armor then i went to a craft store, bought a can of spray glitter and went nuts over the whole thing, and my display board is sipmly a poster of Edward Cullin. I went there, spent the money to do it, and got my desired results. The only thing I was missing is the werewolf part of it, and I think these may be just what I need to fulfill the purpose of the army! They aren't the prettiest werewolves I have seen but they deffinetly do their job at getting noticed!

Thanks for the picture. Looks like it would be a bit small in my varghiest unit made up of FW skin wolves and converted metal rat ogres. With a raised scenic base, they should blend in however. BTW this picture motivated me to open an account after being stymied for years behind a proxy server.

I received my Mantic box today, so I now have all 21 Werewovles in my hands xD Will try to assemble a few and paint at least one soon. But just fiddling around with the bits in my hands, they are already much better. So they kinda suffer the same fate as some more recent GW kits, bad paint job but the model themselves are quite nice once you see it for real.

Well like I said above, I assembled one and painted it to see how it will come out.

I went for a more traditional gray on this one (though I'll probably mix a few colors scheme in the unit), so take a look and tell me guys what you think.

Myself I think it turned out quite nice, and for the price I paid they are perfect xD

They really are nice looking toys, and when the get painted up well then that just brings them all together. I did expect them to be a bit larger but they will easily serve their purposes.

Nice work Mioum. I can see that the arms must be pose-able, unlike GW's crypt horrors, which was a huge let down. I'm ordering these guys for sure, and the female vampire on foot while I'm at it.

Mioum that is a great paint job, certainly has made me think twice about the models. Have you got any of those trolls? If you can make me reconsider those I really would be surprised as they are a major disappointment.

Mioum really brought the point home, with a decent paint job they seem nice, but I think *cough*reaperboneswerewolves*cough* are better IMO and you can get 10 for $25, the problem with the bones guys is they need to be repositioned for diversity and they all come in one piece...The saving grace is they instantly bond with super glue and cut super easily!

Though painted nicely I like the look of the mantic werewolves. How easily can they be positioned, and with how much freedom?

On a side note I see everyone noticed Mantic's new ogres and trolls, sadly the ogres don't match GW's, but hey who ever said all ogres look exactly alike? (except GW...) But I like the look of those trolls in place of crypt horrors, and add in 3 titan forge flesh reapers and you whole unit consists of different models and poses

On a tangent-side note to my previous side note, reaper bones also has an ogre for two and a half dollars with the same full-cast model that you'd have to cut up to make their poses different. The pain of having to cut and position them is offset by their price tag, I think.

**EDIT What's up with the nipples on the werewolves mioum? Is that the shadow or do they have serious pepperoni nips on the sculpt??

Yeah the Reaper Bones Werewolf is nice, but as you said, a single one-piece model. No matter are easy they are to cut and glue, it'll still require work to change the pose, and will most likely need some greenstuff too. But I'd say you could probably fit a few of them mixed with Mantic's models for some more variety.

Mantic have 2 variation of the models (all their Monstrous Infantry are like this), kinda like a champ and 2 grunts. And most of them have more heads (the Werewolves have 4 different heads). For the Werewolves, the arms are on big ball joints and are interchangeable, so you can get a good amount of variation in a unit (note that on mine I greenstuffed the shoulders so they appear seamless).

And yes, the models do sport some tasty batnipples xD But if that's something that disturb you enough, they are very easy to remove
