Really sad news that Michael Jackson has died as linked here LINK

I loved his music when growing up, to me he was a superb singer, dancer and entertainer. I am truly sorry he has died and he will be missed

RIP Michael.

Note: This is a serious thread. Respect the man he was and the things he did. Anyone posting negative or insulting comments will be severely dealt with. Basically if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything.

Yea, I'm quite shocked actually. I liked his music and dancing (can't say the same with his personality though). He will be missed.

RIP

On a side note, a simple Invocation of Nehek will bring that zombie back!

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, just trying to bring some positive energy to a rather gloomy situation.

I loved what he did for pop and his crazy-awesome style of dancing, He was just a rather eccentric man and somethings weren't so great.

I''m gonna quote a friend here and while you may not like what I'm saying I think it is a valid question: "Now that he's dead, everyone loves him... what is this? i feel like 8 months ago no one had anything good to say about him."

He will be missed and remembered as one of the greats of all time.

I would love to see someone make a "Thriller" VC Army in tribute to the man :)

Oh, this is sad news indeed. Even though he's been a source of countless rude-ish jokes for me, I've always utterly digged MJ for his (mostly former, admittedly) style and coolness. Wasn't he supposed to be making a comeback about now or something? :(

Oh and also DoN, your link is faulty but something like this isn't hard to confirm with a swift little search...

I couldn't belive it when I read this thread. I'm shocked and sad. I love his music it always makes me smile when I listen to it. Poor man :'(

Never been a fan of the guy but I always kind of felt sorry that he wasn't able to lead a normal life. Everybody made jokes about Wacko Jacko but if you would've lived like him wouldn't you be kinda mental as well? There's not a lot of folks who turned out exactly normal if they've been famous since a really young age. In death he'll probably have the peace he never had in life which is just sad.

Indeed sad news. I read a short note on the front page of the newspaper. It said he had a heart attack... I was kind of shocked just because he wanted to do this big tour through Europe (which has been canceled a few months ago but picked up shortly after).

I think he's the real king of pop, who first defined this genre coupled with some rock. After Elvis, I'd say he'd be the most influential single artist up to date.

For that time, he had very unique dance moves. Something that is often lacking in today's video clips.

I believe that Thriller is the longest recorded video clip ever... although I'm not sure. Maybe the longest ever being a hit. I believe it is 11 minutes and had to be cut at some parts to make it on television.

Too bad he's gone. He influenced many, if not everyone.

About his mental status. How would you feel if you get smacked up onto the stage to sing? And that by your greedy father? I think no-one can recover from that.

He's had weird actions (his obsession to fix his nose, his own themepark Neverland), but who doesn't? It's the person who decides to don't give a shit about the world and do it what makes a difference (he had the money too. But that's a different matter).

Little note: maybe not the best place to put this here (not to pun on the forum's title), rather in the Mortal's Realm.

I know,, a lot of sick jokes flying about today. Some people don't know how to respect the dead. I know some people didn't like him but I have always liked his music, and I think yes he was perhaps mentally unstable towards the end, but I do believe he never hurt anyone, and that he just wanted to make up for his lost childhood.

He was a musical genius, superb dancer and many people forget how much he did for charities, how much money and effort he donated.

Quite a lot of people I spoke to today said his death was our generation's Elvis Presley. Personally I agree.

In memorandum of Mike's demise, I shall declare that for at least until September, I shall rename Vanhels' Danse as Vanhels' Moonwalk(VHMW for short).

I guess like alot of others who grew up with MJ (I'm 36) just always being there in the public eye, both for good reasons and bad, I find it very surreal with his sudden passing. It is another case of being a moment that will become 'where were you when you heard about...'. Other such moments for me are the passings of Kurt Cobain and Princess Diana, as well as the day that the Towers came down. Just things that I will never forget.

I've never owned a Michael Jackson cd, and I don't think I ever will, so cannot claim to be a fan. What I can say is that I can automatically recognise at least 20 MJ songs just from the first couple of opening bars; be it Dirty Diana, Black or White, Smooth Criminal, Bad, Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, or Give In To Me with the awesome soloing of Slash. And so many more, and I find myself knowing the lyrics to each of them. So that is the greatest compliment that I can pay to Michael - people who are not fans, still know his music and respect him for being the great entertainer that he was. He has always been there, and now I find it very sad that he isn't. Yes, he had his moments of weirdness and ill judgement, but he never had a normal upbringing like most of us have. I think that alot of people put through that kind of enviroment and childhood, would come out the other end a little bit strange and eccentric. It doesn't detract from the incredibly talented entertainer that he was, and the impact that he had on mine and many others lives. Truely missed, RIP MJ.

I will always remember him as an entertainer and also as a man who never had the luxury of being a child. I have no idea if his accusations were true or not and choose not have an opinion on the matter, as it is just that, an uneducated opinion.

I was a huge fan when I was younger, even had clothes to match some of his(the white suit he wore in the smooth criminal video for the only complete one, more or less... I was like 12 years old :P ). He also inspired me to start dancing. Not that I took lessons but I did my fair share of clubbing and that stuff. I also got most of his CDs(all up the History album). Still love his music but I stopped being a fan a good many years ago.

I also believe he will be spoken in the same tone as Elvis Presley as Michael Jackson the King of Pop. No matter what you think he did or did not do you cannot deny he was a greater entertainer.

Except for by a sick few he will ALWAYS be remembered as the King of Pop like he should be! and his personal life will be seen as sad and a real shame with not having a proper childhood and a clouded past.
I just hope that those that put him through pain with court cases and certain accusations are feeling ashamed of themselves.

Although I never really grew up with his music as I'm only 18 and most of his solo music being from 80s to mid 90s when i was only like 4 or 5. I was really shuck up by his death a lot more then I thought possible because it feels like a part of me has died and i honestly feel like I should be more upset, I know that might sound stupid but its true because his music is timeless, dancing is unmatchable and everyone can enjoy it. I've been listening to his music like almost none stop since Friday morning and I still find my self holding on to the smallest bit of hope that its all just a big hoax.

Also the fact that it cost him his life for his music to be truly popular again and to see what everyone really thought of him considering the paper headlines the other day said that he was lonely yet hes the most popular man in pop music afterall you don't get the title of the King for no reason.
And considering the speed at which 50 gigs at the London O2 arena sold out and that place holds what? like 60,000 people at any one time so thats like 3million tickets in no more than hours.

And kind of like what Darknesseternal said people are always going to remember his death and where they were when they heard the news. I was at my college prom and the last song they played was the legendary Thriller and people were up doing the dance, and because of that im always going to remember.

Long live the music of The King of Pop Michael Jackson!!

on the flipside, mankara's incantaion of urgency is now michaels incantaion of moonwalking, for the same amount of time.

I guess this means that the skeleton champion Mikhail Jaxson from Terror Of The Lichemaster will now become even more apt? ;)

Today Michael Jackson will be buried. It is broadcasted on 06:30 PM on Nederland 3 and 06:00 PM on SBS 6.

CNN will be broadcasting it too at 06:00 PM.

I heard that maybe 2.5 billion people will watch it.

Except for by a sick few he will ALWAYS be remembered as the King of Pop like he should be!

I think the pyjama parties he held for kids was to give them a good time. He really liked kids, but that's probably because he never had a proper childhood himself and wanted to give them a good time.

I mourn the death of any half way decent human being, and I'd say he at least fits that... but I am tired of that being 2/3 of the news or more. I want to know what else is going on in the world. I don't care about the personal affairs of his family, that's none of our business. It's just poor media.

Sorry, I apologize if this comes across as a bit crass... I would the same about any celebrity. It just annoys me how so many people obsess over the lives of celebrities, and then expect me to put up with such an obsession in the news.

Maybe not watch the news for 2 weeks. Here it has been moderate in the Netherlands, but I'm not actively searching for the news. But how hard is it to just skip around it?

Then again, the rest of the news is about deaths in Iraq, the failure of the stock market and the nuclear program of North Korea. Great news.
