what materials do you use as the base for the mordheim terrain? Wood? Plasticard? Thx

@Mc1gamer, I'm trying to find out from the guy who made them but I believe it is some kind of board, wooden or "particle board" (is that the right word? Or is it MDF board?) Either way it's something sturdy that gives the buildings a weighty base. It is then covered in plaster or something which can be given a good texture.

Got only a single new model to show off after this week. It's another dreg, with the miniature taken from Warhammer Quest.

I also touched up the faces of the earlier ghouls with a quick drybrush, just to pick out their features a tiny bit more.

I hope to get the bases I want to use for these guys next week. They look awfully incomplete without them.

It's time for a new update!

I only have a single new model to show you for this week. It's my necromancer.

But other than him I've also gone ahead and made some cobblestone base with milliput. Here's first a couple of pictures showing how it looks like from above, where the effect is most visible.

And here are some shots of previously done miniatures with the new bases.

And lastly, a couple of group photos showing Helena with her new crew. The nametag on her makeshift base has unfortunately broken off. I need to find her something more durable which'll still retain her relative size to the others.

Here's a smattering of pictures of a new board I'm playing on. The terrain is... quite nice, as I think you'll see. My pictures are unfortunately not perfect but they'll get the point across. :)

Hello again. I'm back sooner than expected to share some tinkering I've done with print-out name tags to use on the bases. Here's a test piece which I like quite much, but I think the size of the name itself might be a bit too small to be clearly visible.

Haha, I love how you thought I had painted the text by freehand. xD

No sir, I've just printed it out on a piece of paper, glued it to the base and given it a quick wash. I think I'll try picking the letters out with some paint manually to make them a little stronger.

Here's this week's official update!

More zombies!

No, it was entirely deliberate. If I crop the pictures the added zoom brings out the real flaws of my painting technique. This is a sensible distance to view things from.

Hi Micheal,

Sorry, I saw your thread last night but put off answering for a little bit, and then I forgot about it. I'll make a reply about how I made my model for Helena in there.

Update time!

I've gotten another ghoul and a zombie done, and I think I've settled on how I want to display the names. I'm thinking about trying to make the corners of the name tags look more ragged somehow, though.

Finally, I've made a list of models I'm going to get finished before I will in earnest begin Helena's completion. It is the following:

1 necromancer (1 done)
3 dregs + 1 mounted dreg (2 done)
6 ghouls (6 done)
6 zombies (4 done)
2 dire wolves (0 done)
2 hired swords (0 done)

8 models to go, and I'll do my best to accelerate my speed of painting to have that done in 2 weeks from now. Stay tuned! :)

Name tags look really good MS. Though as you say, some damage to their edges wouldn't hurt. Btw, what glue do you use to attach them?

Thanks! I used regular PVA glue, or "trälim". It dries transparent so there's little worry of having to clean it up afterwards, and it'll also be relatively easy to remove the tags if I want to.

It's time for an update, except I don't have any to give. I decide to skip the to-do list above and get started on painting Helena instead. I can't keep avoiding it forever. So now I'm stuck in the mire of real painting, but I've learned to make a good wet palette which is really helpful. I might post some WIP shots once I've gotten that far, but otherwise I'll let this plog stay silent in the mean time.
