RE: Mousillon army blog

Very nice work. The bases add to a great paint job too.

I am working on a similar theme, although the forces have been gathered from far and wide (they are in Mousillon colours, although not all that many are Bretonian minis yet).

I have not done much in the way of conversion to date, and will probably not do a huge amount (time and ability being key factors).

I will post pics of progress to date as soon as my camera is repaired.

RE: Mousillon army blog

Indeed, very well done. I especially like the extra work put into the movement trays, but does the extra width on the front cause problems?

RE: Mousillon army blog

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

aaah, the only downside at present! I havent actually done any characters yet.....!

I have converted my lord, and am halfway through a wight king, but I'm stuck for the last two vamps (ideas appreciated)

Think I might do my black knights next, and try and finish the wight king....

Then have the rest of the bats to finish... and a corpse cart as a unit filler for the zombies....so much to do....

RE: Mousillon army blog

Hugely impressed on those, they stick together so well! Now how to steal such a good idea... hmmm... this will be hard...

More flying doggies!

RE: Mousillon army blog

Very nice work illusionarypresence, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to post how you did your bases, as I am going about with a similar theme there, and what grass/snow you used and how, thanks!

RE: Mousillon army blog

Really really great work on your army! I love how you have used the walls and fences on your movement trays, and I love how you have painted the bases!

And I would like to know how you manage to get such an even finish on your yellow. Ive been painting a lot of yellow for my averlanders, but I don't get the same finish you have. Please share your methods! ;)

RE: Mousillon army blog

thanks guys.

bases are drybrushed scorched, then graveyard earth. flock is from atenociti workshop - autum straw (or something similar), and snow is just standard snow from GW applied with super glue. The leaves are also from atenocities. The bases are made from the modular movement trays, just add 20mm to the base size and glue a regiment tray to the front of the tray for the extra bit. a bit of green stuff to fill gaps and the hedges/ fences etc cover any bumps pretty well.

@Boo: Yellow is still an absolute sod to paint even with foundation paints. This yellow is a mix of Iyanden Darksun and golden yellow appproximately 50:50 and then 70:30 with water. I find the foundation paints dry very rough if you are not very careful with them and water them down lots. It still takes 3-5 coats to achieve an even finish. this mix is applied over snakebite leather. Shading wash is the new ogryn flesh 'magic ink' and highlighted by adding a bit of bleached bone to the mix. it takes a bit of time but I am very pleased with the faded but still strong yellow colour!

Am working on corpse cart next to finish the zombie unit, then might have a look at characters....

RE: Mousillon army blog

ah great tips! Thanks! :)

So, maybe I really should try to get a hold on some of the foundation paints? Seems to be really worth it if you get ´that finish! :)

RE: Mousillon army blog

no, Mousillon is black and yellow (black fleur de lis on a yellow background is the heraldry in fact. oddly enough, they're actually the only dukedom to use a fleur de lis, despite the number of the things on the Brettonian sprues). red and blue is Caronne (however you spell it), King Louen's dukedom
i love the models by the way. the winged wolf is awesome, and all of them are very well painted and converted.

RE: Mousillon army blog

Mousillon is yellow/black as Azahul says, and the city fluff fits nicely with a vampire theme (the reason that I went this way with mine). I am looking to go with a somewhat more generic core (from wandering the realms), and add some brets where I can.
