So, I have a large problem.

Games Workshop no longer produces Necron Abyss.

I have an entire army that needs this color, or something pretty darn close to it, to highlight its black portions, which are most of the body.

The current Games Workshop replacement, Kantor Blue, is worth diddly to me. I tried it, and it's stark, living up to the Crimson Fist color the name hints at. It's not what I need at all.

I tried Home Depot, which only mixes latex paints (at a friend's suggestion), then Sherwin Williams, which could only give me a viscous gloss varnish that matched the color, but would have been awful for highlights.

I have a pot of this paint, thanks to another friend, with which to color match, but that I have not been given to use. Does anyone know of any company that can either create more of this out-of-production paint for me, or sell me an darn good equivalent?

I will have to wait for my color wheel to get out of the er but I think there is a match in p3
According to a chart I have here is what matches I will get you the other match later.

reaper is Ultramarine Shadow (9187)

Vallejo Model Color Dark Prussian Blue

Vallejo Game Color Night Blue

If you can get your hands on the older Citadel Midnight blue it is nearly an exact match (or maybe you have some) just not the foundation consistency. You might want to check out all options that match that color on the Dakka Paint Compatibility Chart. When I get home (in a day or so) I'll check to see if the Vallejo game color one matches. I do love the way Necron Abyss paints up.

I tested out Night Blue (019) from my Vallejo Game Colour collection and it matches Necron Abyss/Midnight Blue quite well. I don't know if it is only my bottle but my Night Blue is a rather thin color so it may need a few coats. If you use a black primer it won't however. If using a white primer I would suggest adding a small touch of black.

I'm rather happy with this as I love Necron Abyss. Its not perfectly spot on and the paint has a slightly different consistency (especially if you're used to the feel of a foundation) but I'm fairly confident no one will be able to tell the difference.

Some people also, apparently, still sell it:

Probably more expensive though, and certainly a solution that will eventually fail :skull:
