Indeed I did, thanks for referring to my guys.
As Shadespyre said it is simply a matter of cutting away all the skin parts (and some more sometimes, like the waist), leaving just the cloth. The tricky part is to put the models together with all that matter missing. The cloak is the key here, the torso will be glues to the cloak, and the clock to the legs. The arm pats can also be glued to the cloak, but you'd run out of poses pretty quickly by only doing so.
For models I'd stick to plastic WD, it's be to hard to cut/drill away all the skin from metal one. This would limit you pretty much to glade guards however, don't really know what kits you could spice it up with.
A problem I had with the conversion is weapons. You'll need a lot of weapons free from hands, which can be tricky. Axes are easier than swords.
What weapons would you equip you GG with? Great weapons would be cool I think and with a little imagination you could get some pretty cool poses to. Shield would work too I guess, arm parts can be attached to the inside and the shield angled so that it can be glued to something else (like the cloak

)
A last word of advise is to pin and use plastic glue as much as you can, they are insanely fragile.
With that I wish you good luck.
EDIT: And it is true I too was inspired by that WD, even though I only saw it once when a friend brought his new copy to school.
