New FAQ - WTF ?!

I don't think it changes us too much. Dogs can still be used to force over runs in peculiar directions, and you can just take a few more Zombies, 20 man speed bumps used to be ok, but 30 will get you a similar result against most things.

The big nerf is to the Raise Dead spell, but even that is still pretty good because we can force over run at weird angles and disrupt the enemy line at the drop of a single spell that is cheap as chips to cast (for what it does).

I agree with that a lot of people have said about not getting the same benefits of other armies (steadfast) and fear being a little lame, but it's not all Doom and Darkness, our Vampires can provide an entire battle line with LD10 for Mindrazor now, and our low leadership monsters and characters are not so vulnerable to snipes.

I have found getting Mindrazor off with a level two to be extremely challenging in my meta.

Also the reason it (the crumble ruling) is a big deal is that you 'wanted' those zombies to crumble and leave your opponent stuck in place for the counter charge. So yeah....

The KB reversal and the Death snipe rulings are good. Johnny is wrong about it being the worse spell now. It kind of even outs. Now your death sniper can always roll at 10 as well. But this ruling helps our poor TG live now. :)

I have the same problem.

Also, I generally have to use 6-dice, so I have to wait until it really matters - or else risk blowing up my vampire early in the game.

Same here. So the str 10 skeletons is really only a good idea on paper.

@ Yorga: Yeah my meta prevents me from using Tbats since they get shot down from the sky quicker than I can say IoN... Regarding your struggling to keep your towers alive I think Skaven has some nasty options when it comes to warmachine hunting, you should(easy for me to say) be able to kill his artillery with Gutter runners, skitterleap assassin(or some other killy thing) and of course your own artillery(of which I think Skaven has some of the best).

Maybe the horned rat is just not favoring you... I don't know :)

And yeah I completely agree with the level 2 casting Mindrazor as well... really tried to make that list work but it never really did for me.

I kind of agree with Yorga on Skavens power. They are very good at taking infantry off the table but as the game moves towards mounted models Skaven begin to suffer. Skaven still have really easy match ups (Ogres and Warriors and Beasts all spring to mind) but with every new book they get a few more hard counters (Empire)

Probably cursing my luck here Johnny but I dare the Skaven General who thinks he'll beat my Monster Mash list for SAWS. It is going to be Rat paste under Chaos boots...err....feet and wheels. ;) WLC or Doomwheel on my Dragon Ogres? Yeah...bring it baby!

Oh you have the Dread 13th? Sucks to be you buddy. :grave:

Why i said warriors and not monsters of chaos

But the Demon Prince lead chariot core is a popular build and will be seen more than hordes of warriors IMO. The army is super fast. The Stormbanner is a MUST HAVE for sure now if the Rats hope to keep the Prince and Chimeras off them for more than turn 2. I'm sorry but absent some abysmal luck I can't see losing to Skaven with my WoC army. There is a reason Josh has switched to Dark Elves.

A Skaven force MIGHT have had a chance against my army if they had enough shooters and plenty of Slaves to tie up my ground units but that was before yesterday's FAQ. :(

If anything the old adage " 6's Skaven win, !'s they lose" is truer now than ever. My pal (WoC) got blown off the table by a Skaven player at Adepticon in 2 turns. The first 8 random str rolls were 10's!!!!!
I still think Skaven are top tier, they just seem to be weakening a bit.
VC just seem to be stuck in mid tier, zombie changes or not. Doesn't change a thing for me, I only use zombies for bunkers and raise dead. If ya ask me I'd rather have someone over run at weird angle (Looking at you Skullcrushers!) and expose a flank then charge in while zombs are still engaged.

Annoyed that they ruled war"flame" as not flaming since I was working on a Galrauch list. I meant serioiusly? Guess I'll be loading flag of flaming in now.

The Warpflame thing...yeah, dumbest rule I have ever seen.
The way to work around it is to focus as much attention on one unit as you possibly can in one turn.

Skaven are a long way out. Last book of 7th ed;)

I believe Beastmen to be the last book of 7 ed...
though it was clearly designed for 8th edition, but still released
before 8th edition came out...

Yeah, Beastmen was the last to be released before they launched 8th edition.
Skaven allow for a lot more funny builds though. It really, really makes me wonder how our local Skaven players manage to lose so many games ...

Skavens on ETC (EURO) comp are not so powerfull anymore, but's still good and funny army.

Skaven are probably better in ETC comp than they are in no Comp, due to the fact that everyone else is limited, and the Skaven can still get 1 of each of their power choice rares, + a Bell.

+1

Filthy skaven are auto-include.

I guess I am just ahead of my time. Let's see how well they do as the books keeping coming out giving new armies MC and chariot/cannons. High Elves even have a chariot cannon coming so to speak. Napalm releasing Phoenix flyers.

The local Skaven King in our region has switched to Dark Elves. This guy has won a lot of Best General's with his Skaven. But he sees the writting on the wall.

I was originally hoping Skaven would not get a new book for 8th since I was happy with their 40+ magic items and such. But now that GW has clearly telegraphed which way they intend to take the game (MC and cannons) I've changed my tune.:innocent:

Anyhow back to the new FAQ and WTF??

So, just had a read through and, WTF indeed? o.o

So- with the loss of unmodified Ld- do we use our general's Ld (if he is within 12") of our TGs' and Banshees' screams?

Just after I had got my head around what un-mod Ld actually means :grave:

You don't use your own Ld when screaming.. So will change nothing there..!
