I've just seen the price hike as well. That board is not worth £150.

Had a close up look at one of these tables in the GW today. Must say its rather nice... though still £150.00 seems an awfull lot. There is ribbing underneath so warping should not be a problem. There is a special pack of flock/paint for painting it as well - with one of the biggest pots of brown paint GW has done!

The only thing for me are the hills. They are nicely sculpted but there are 4 of them! You can have 1 big hill, 1 in each corner so on... They are so large you can put the full multipart hill on top to make a very large hill!

The GW staffer did mention that individual tiles may become available in the future.

Also had a close look at the 'Fast Attack' and 'tactical' bags. The fast attack was interesting as it is geared at carrying items being painted. The Tactical bag was much more interesting as for £45.00 it can carry 2 small cases + dice etc. But it can be folded down to contain just one case too. Very nice indeed!

Damned if I'm paying £150 for some hollow plastic and a tin of paint (that's making the charitable assumption that the paint and flock aren't a separate product).

It's a nice board layout, I'll give it that, but I could build one for a third of that price and I'd laugh while I did it.

I'm also not keen on the "skullz" bits on the board as they're a bit naff imo.

The cost is only unreasonable from the perspective of gamers who have better things to spend that much money on.

From where I sit I'm seeing this is a good deal when you imagine the cost of the plastic that went into producing each one.

Just think. The cost of each individual piece of the thing is roughly equivalent to what you would pay for a unit of skeletons or zombies. and probably more plastic for your cash.

erm...large man test? can you explain that for me, cos im imagining someone roughly my own hieght and build jumping up and down on it and it survives, and there are cars ive done that to that havent lol.

the one thing im thinking in response to the price is that it is actually cheaper for me to get an hour long bus ride into manchester and play on gw's board there, and if i calulated the expense+time lost versus my wage the amount of times i go to game in a year, that board is still too espensive lol. ill pass on that till after im earning 50 grand a year!

£150 is certainly steep, and I also do't like the skulls (although you can always stick a hill/other terrain on it). Apart from that, I am minded to stick to their new cloth (at around £15-20), and some hills.

Overall, much more flexible, takes up even less space and I don't need to paint it (always a bonus). If I am looking for desert look, I can always spray/dye the cloth.

Kudos to Pureblood on finding the tutorial.
