New Slaanesh Daemon models, Good or Bad?

I really agree with the concept behind the new Slaaneshi daemons. They should be more than simply: "Look, boobies!" The new image is spot on.

Having said that, the actual implementation (the sculpts) leaves me a bit cold. Don't know why, they just haven't got the 'je ne sais quois' as sculpts, for me.

I would have prefered them to keep a simillar style as the older Daemonettes. I always feel that Slaanesh is taken to far to the extreme, sure Slaanesh is about extreme perversion, but you dont start out there. They are meant to be alluring and beautiful and as your pact with Slaanesh grows the true face appears.

I like that they are plastic but i never went for the cartonny biker gang feel of the old models. I might have to go stock up on the old ones before they are discountinued.

Comparing the models I think that they should have simply kept the body ( just had a look at the older ones mmmmm lol) and the face of the older models, I think the hair and claws on the new models are nice so combining the two and obviously making them plastic would have made great new models. Ayway if I had a choice I would choose the older models.

I wasnt very fond of the metal ones, they look cool and stuff, but IMO porn and warhammer should be seperated from each other. It's one thing to play warhammer with armoured knights etc, and something quite different and disturbing to play with naked women.

So, here's my take at them, sure they unavoidably turned out naked too :lol: but at least abit less pornografic.

I prefer the new models, the older ones look horrid to me and these new ones certainly look better....

I prefer the old models. The only thing I like about the new ones, are their hair (and the paint job in the pic). They just aren't sexy. I want them slender and alluring with naked breast, not these square androgynes with goofy crab claws. So sue me.

ive only known these Daemonettes and the last batch of metal ones, and when the plastics came out i didnt like them, although i have to admit they have grown on me, but not to a point where i would say they are better than the last batch

I actually quite like those converted 'dryadnettes' shown earlier in the thread. They show the demonic beauty/allure of the female demons as well as the explosive savagery they can unleash when their foe is subdued.

Thats a much better rendition of the deamonettes than this weird cross of hard rockers and crab people theme gw seems to love so much.

Then again i had the same kind of disgust at the new ghoul models when i first saw them and lo and behold. Now i have 6 boxes of the buggers...

I hate the new models, they're ugly and just not what I'm looking for in a Slaaneshi model (meaning...unclothed). I though the fluff behind the Daemonettes was that they were supposed to seduce enemy soldiers, not make then stand back and say "Eewww...you look like me ex-wife!"

Slaanesh has always been about the juxtaposition of beauty and grotesquery - you see it in the oldest models and artwork right the way through to the new range. Daemonettes aren't supposed to look like naked supermodels, they've always been described as both alluring and disturbing. They might look horrible to sane, rational objective men, but get to close to them, start to fall under their hypnotic influence, and the more you find yourself helplessly drawn to them against your better judgement. That's part of the reason Slaanesh is so frightening - he represents not only perversion of the flesh, but of the senses.

If theres one thing in the new range I love, it's the Beast of Nurgle. I love the fluff of the Beast being an over devoted puppy and through this, killing all of it's targets of affection. That just makes me chuckle! :lol:
