New to Fantasy

So, to start off with, I'm brand new to fantasy but not to wargaming. I played various historic armies before being pulled into 30k by a friend. After Alpha Legion and a Knight Household, I started on a 40k chaos army but was feeling burned out on space marines.

Enter fantasy. I chose Vampire Counts solely because I've wanted to paint the models. Bought the rule book, army book, and been watching battle reports while I assemble. I may be considered crazy as my army is already looking to be over 6k and I just started a month ago but have a TK army in town wanting to team up with me for a giant 10k game against the elf players. Good to have goals

Presently building 160 zombies, 60 skeletons, 30 ghouls, 20 dire wolves, 2 mortis engines, black coach, 40 grave guard, 3 varghiest, terrorgheist, 15 black knights, most of the characters and more that I can't think of off the top of my head. Needless to say I'm working on enough I can try multiple tactics.

I'll admit some confusion on why some units are good but as I play them I'm slowly learning. Hope to have pictures up in a month or so once everything is assembled but right now assembly to play is the goal.

I do wish to thank you for all the information provided on here already and going forward. It has been invaluable

Damn, thats a mighty fine place to start from. I think I had 30 zombies, 20 skeletons and 10 crypt ghouls for my first game...Playing VC is a lot of fun, hope you enjoy it!

So far I am. Haven't been able to pull off some of the better things yet but it's all a learning experience

If those 15 Black Knights are NIB, save the hexwraith bits. Hoarde-o-bits sells TK skeleton horses for super cheap and it allows you to get both Hexies and BK out of the one box, or in your case, three boxes.

I will keep that in mind. So far only built up 5 with the remainder still in the box. Been working on putting all the core together mostly. I assemble 1-2 boxes of the other slots for every box of core I finish. Keeps me busy most nights.
Unfortunately while building I've finally hit my tolerance with superglue. I now have to wear a 3m mask while using it or I just about stop breathing. Told a buddy either I'll finish this army or it will finish me

Damn, I might just get on to that! Was debating buying hex wraiths and a unit of mantic knights but might get 2 boxes of hex/NK instead!

Hey what's this horde bits thing? I've just got two boxes of black knights (got fed up with my average looking empire conversions). Hexwraiths on top would be a huge bonus!

I saw both sets of 6 and 8 under the tomb kings. Run ya just shy of $9 for 8 horses. I can't link but page two when you click fantasy->tomb kings
