Ok, so im looking at picking up some black knights, but the price tag is turning me off

Also i dont like the skeleton horses, just looks bad imho, its too bad that the blood knights didnt come in cheaper plastics, cause i'd totally love THOSE nightmares instead of the skeletal ones

Hopefully we get some new kits with nightmares that look like those

find it silly they look so different from each other

Anyways, anyone got any good ideas for conversions?
i'll probably use barding so that'd probably be green stuff/plasticard

what im thinking so far

Tomb kings horses - cheap and easy - Just have to use spare bits from grave guard or skeletons and you should be set, and save a ton of coin

chaos knights and brets - Comes with barding! again, kitbash to get a more undead feel

Or my #1 choice so far, im thinking marauder horsemen, nice heavy armor, armoured heads, Fantastic looking horses, little green stuff around the hooves for flames, skulls on the heads and in helmets, skeleton spear arms, should be good, green stuff + plasticard barding

What do you guys use/think would look good?

Thing is Black Knights ride Skeletal Steeds not nightmares.
Ive just used some Chaos Knights as Blood Knights and they've come out ok imo.

As DoN said about the Bret mounts, give the mount an ethereal paint job and you should be fine. I rarely see Black Knights using actual skeletal steeds, plus most people know the current figures are horrid.

It's looking good beeblicon. They look unique, and pretty nomadic (in a good way). Stick to it!

I think that the best choice would be the barded horses of Empire. Pure barded horses without emblems to scratch and without many clothes on them. But that's only my opinion.

I was very proud of my first black knights.

I took Empire knights and steeds. I put skulls on them (some were intentionally headless). They were wielding swords painted to look magical (skeletal arms for both arms).

Then I took Orc spears, shaves off the hands/arms and slung them on their backs. They looked really cool, and I thought of Mongol Keshiks (assuming I got the spelling right).

The nice thing is there are so many ways to do Black Knights, and most of them will look good. Which is somewhat intimidating at first I can imagine.
